I needed a card to output 5.1 audio via Coaxial S/PDIF and this card did just that. Quick and easy setup out the box with no problems.

Dimond extreme sound not for Vista.......2007-09-02

I left Creative's sound blaster USB because they did not support Vista; I searched Amazon and found The Diamond by searching for "Vista sound Cards", I ordered it overnight, it arrived, but the software did not work with Vista although the generic windows driver does.

I called Diamond, because the card inside said "Do not return to vendor call us first." I did and was told, impatiently, that the box did not say Vista and that I should return it to Amazon.

So I am going to keep it, it does work, where the Creative did not. I received about half of what I thought I had bought.

Amazon showed this under a Vista search, Diamond was rude. The hassel of returning it and starting over, is too much.

So Cavet Emptor - be careful, make sure it is what you want, if it does not say Vista do not buy it no matter what the website claims.

Diamond has performed well in the past.

And, yes, I should have been more careful, I was too easily misled, by my pressing need for sound, and my desire to get on with it.

I have used soundblaster all my life. I bought Diamond because I wanted to try something else, and Diamond has name recognition as a quality product. BAD CHOICE. This 7.1 /24 bit souldcard has bad driver problems. It sounds like the soun is coming fro the toilet, and its not clear even with the other company's sound drivers based on the same chipset. My soundblaster live was alot better than this....

All sound cards are not created equally. The sound card in my computer cost 2.5 times as much as this one! This one blew it out of the water! Consider:
ease of installation, price of card, setup demo, inx, delivery - another Amazon Winner!! One of the smartest PC buys I ever made from Amazon! This makes me wish I needed still more! Perhaps I will build my next computer due to all of the purchases I have made at Amazon! They certainly have the right gear at the right prices!

Worked like a champ! No issues, easy installation. All as expected! I just decided to download the latest driver from the website. The old driver worked great too!

Installed on a Dell Optiplex machine (Low Profile/Small Form Factor). Easy to replace the default frame with the SFF one.

The only thing I wonder is if the Dolby LIVE version would give me any extra cool feature. For the buck my choice was perfect! Love it!
