Although this pointer is intended for use in lecturing, we have many reports from our customers that their pets (dogs and cats) enjoy it immensely. Focus is pre-set to maintain a small dot size even at maximum range. Uses regular 2 AAA Batteries (included) - not those little button types. Please do not confuse this pointer with the cheap key chain types on the market. Not a toy - not for children. All metal construction. Please have a look at the picture of the FDA sticker attached to each pointer as it leaves the factory. Always insist on seeing the FDA sticker before purchasing any laser pointer.
