Worldnav 3100 10/2007 update.......2007-11-26
I liked this product before but the new update has made this a real winner.
When I first got my Worldnav I was going to Nebraska to visit a new customer, it got me there even with the last 6 miles of the trip being on dirt roads.
Now, the resolution is far better and with yearly updates, you keep up on the latest roads and POIs

WorldNav 3100 Delux couldn't find my town on the map and they blamed Google maps, said my town was too small. I looked up my town on Google and Google had my town and all the street names. Having used a Garmin 350 for a couple of days I had realistic expectations. It's unfortunate WorldNav put their money into packaging and too little into development. How can they stay afloat selling a product that performs so badly? Twenty bucks wasted on postage not to mention my disappointment and time trying to make it work. Guess I'll bite the bullet and buy a Garmin 350.
Piece of junk........2007-07-23
This is a rip off. All claims are BS. Short battery life. Software locks up. POI's must be on Neptune cause there not from around here. The video display reminds me of Atairi Pong from the 60's. This thing is more lost than the 3 blind mice. I used a friend's Garmin Street Pilot on a long trip and it performed like a dream, very very useful. Don't be like me, listen to my friend and buy a Garmin or other well known brand.
Just Got & Still Testing Unit........2007-07-01
I am agree with the other reviews: The turn locations can be quite off and the street names can be off.
I have been testing it with my wife's Magellan I brought 3 months ago.
The Magellan and the Teletype Premium side by side had interesting results.
Even with the Teletype having 12 million POI, the Magellan showed me like 35 points of interest (in real time) by Disneyland, CA. The teletype unit showed me 1 gas station (in real time).
Both the Magellan & Teletype unit failed to find In N Out (Burger Restaurant) as a POI [point of interest] without me physically pulling my hair out for 1/2 hour toying with both of them. The problem was: In N Out is spelled In-N-Out. I can not believe both manufacturers could not think of programming their software to recognize names with and without hyphens connecting the words.
Teletype could not find the Street Name: N Glassell, in Orange CA automatically. While Magellan has an advanced feature to only highlight letters of streets as you type in the name of the street. As you keep typing, the Magellan does a process of elimination and displays a list of only the streets that are left, before you finish typing. This is a really blow you out the door feature!!!
The Magellan doesn't do text to speech, but the Magellan even tells me that I arrived at my destination and what side of the street my destination is on. The Teletype doens't tell me I arrived as good as the Magellan. I finally noticed today I get a flag on the screen on the Teletype Prem. Which is kind of self defeating. I want to hear the directions to my location with text to speech while not having to look at the screen.
I brought 2 Teletype Prem., hoping to give both as gifts to my family in CA. The one person is legally blind, but can see enough to ride his bike to work sometimes. I felt I could give this Teletype Prem. GPS unit to him and take some of the pressure off his wife. Now I am very nervous about giving him the unit.
I put in a call today 7/1/07 to Teletype GPS, hopefully they got a patch, for the devices or I may have to return them and lose 25% restocking fee.
Even though I do not want to return the units.
I kind of got the hang of all the neat features now. Hopefully we can rectify the problem tomorrow.
