Save your money and sanity.......2007-04-05

I purchased this to save space while also connecting my new DVD player to my old TV. It required a PhD in engineering to set up and stopped working completely after a few months. Save your money and avoid this product.

Terk to enterprise, come in enterprise..........2007-01-23

For an older television several years ago I bought this to connect to a dvd player. It worked great and I never noticed any problems. When I got tired of seeing the problems caused when my parents routed their dvd player through their VCR I thought I would get this to fix it since I had such good luck last time. My new one didn't work quite as well as the old one, it fixes some of the problems, like how when hooked though the VCR the color would shift from bright to dark at random. It also added a problem. It seemed to have slowed down the video so now the audio is slightly ahead of the video. Changing some of the setting on the DVD player mostly fixed the problem however if you pay very close attention you still notice a slight difference in the audio/video timing.

Does What it Should.......2006-12-24

It has worked so well that I forgot that it was even there! For over a year, this unit has been an excellent video link from cheap Toshiba DVD player to a 10 year old Goldstar TV/VCR combo. Audio is clear, but the unit lowers volume by about 1/3.

Would recommend purchase from local store for easy return, as my experience appears to have been an exception.

I bought this mini modulator to use with my dvd player that didn't connect to my old TV. I've watched two dvds on it, and I can tell you it worked perfectly with me. Easy to set up and at an affordable price, this was a great purchase for me!

Keeps Humming Along.......2006-04-08

Should be ZERO stars. Bought to use between a DVD player and an old TV. This thing produces an orange tint picture and a "hum" or static sound so loud that you can forget about hearing the content. I tried this on two different players and two different TVs - it was universally horrible (hum was constant on one player & intermittent on the other). Bought this at a local store - should have checked here first. Just swapped it out with the Philips unit which works GREAT for about the same price.

When working with dynamic subject matter you can focus Lensbaby 3G just like Lensbaby 2.0 - by compressing and bending. The Lensbaby 3G SLR lens for Canon SLR Cameras combines an old-fashioned bellows camera with an up-tight tilt-shift lens, and the 3G allows photographers to lock the Lensbaby in a desired bent position simply by pressing a button. Then, using a traditional barrel focus mechanism, you can do fine focusing and precisely place the sweet spot of sharp focus before pressing the shutter release. Lensbaby selective focus SLR camera lenses take photos with one area in sharp focus, with that sweet spot surrounded by graduated blur. You can move the sweet spot of sharp focus anywhere in the photo by bending the flexible lens tubing.

The Lensbaby 3G features the same low dispersion, high refractive index, multi-coated optical glass doublet and the same flexible tubing as Lensbaby 2.0, but adds three focusing rails that emerge from the camera mount and pass through the focusing collar. A trigger button on the focusing collar releases three pins that engage the focusing rails and lock Lensbaby 3G in a bent position. Once Lensbaby 3G is locked into place, additional fine focus can be achieved by turning the barrel focusing ring, which moves the optic in and out like a normal manual focus lens. Also, in the locked position, you can make small adjustments to the placement of the sweet spot of focus by turning any combination of the three focusing rails.

While the Lensbaby 2.0 is a good choice for fluid, photojournalistic shots, the Lensbaby 3G plays well with pros who require precise focusing, complete control, and repeatability. Other features include:

One of my complaints about the digital world (while I shot and enjoy it) is that it is predictable. This can lead to some pretty uncreative photography. I love how the Lensbaby puts creativity, experimentation, and the random back into photography. It is wonderful. If you are willing to let go of some control and have some fun, the baby is for you. Two thumbs up!

The Lensbaby 3G is the coolest tool in your camera bag........2007-11-21

While it isn't for everyone, the Lensbaby 3G brings back a little of the soft and ethereal to digital photography. The selective focus sweet spot gets larger with smaller apertures, deliciously small with the wider ones. With my Canon 20D set to aperture priority, the light meter is able to calculate the correct exposure even though the lens does not electronically communicate with the camera. Often used for portraits and wedding photography (check the galleries at lensbabies.com), I like it for product shots that pop when everything else in the shot fades away. I love this lens.
