OK For the Money.......2007-04-13
This unit is classed as a lightwieght rotator. It IS NOT suitable for very large Ham antennas or for use in very high (over 50') situations, this is my opinion. That said I am unsing a Wineguard 9095 8' antenna for HD broadcasts and it is not necessary for me to rotate the unit very much. The remote works fine and I recommemd zeroing the unit AFTER you install it but BEFORE you put the antenna on it. Use a piece of white tape with a black mark to see the movement. My only gripe is in the VERY scimpy control wire, it is very thin and should be tossed out and replaced with a more heavy guage 4 conductor wire.
Great Rotor for Digital TV Stations.......2007-03-15
I live in a rural area that requires a large antenna to receive over-the-air TV broadcasts. I recently purchased an HDTV , and have found that it is VERY sensitive to the slightest change in antenna direction. The TV stations are many miles away, and just a small change in direction makes a big difference in signal strength.
This antenna rotor with its remote control works great for this type of service. I am able to kick back in my recliner and fine-tune for the best signal strength. The unit allows you to lock in the final setting so that you only need to fine-tune only once. It has a capacity of nine memory locations, which should meet most needs.
The remote included with the antenna may also be programmed to control other devices, however it is limited in this capacity. It is more than adequate for operating the rotor.
Installation was simple, and the instructions are easy to follow. Construction of the components seems to be of high quality and durable. All in all, it more than meets my needs.
Remote control has no on-off control over unit........2007-02-20
The rotor and instructions for installing the rotor and control box were very easy to understand and implement. However, I cannot turn the control box on or off with the remote control. I also cannot find anywhere a phone number for customer support.

I have had mine intalled for less than a year, and during the cold weather it will not rotate. That was the reason I replaced the old one. Also, it will not rotate a full 360 degrees, more like 340. The directions do not seem to be correct in that the buttons that are mentioned to complete various tasks do not correspond with the buttons that actually seem to be active. I have not found any place in the instructions for support. There has to be better ones on the market.

Great product for the price. As the manual states, it needs to be reset to zero occasionally after high winds; just a matter of pressing a button on the remote.

Channel Master antenna rotator.......2007-10-15
The product is easy to install and operate, and it performs basically as advertised, but there are a few things to grumble about.
First, communication over the control cable is one-way, from the control box to the motor. That means that the controller doesn't really know where the antenna is pointing. Rather, it knows, or thinks it knows, how fast the antenna rotates and figures how long it should take to get to where you want it and then assumes that it got there. My experience is that if it is really pointed where the controller thinks it is and you command it to rotate 180 degrees in one continuous motion, it will go somewhere between 170 and 190 degrees or so, but if you use the UP and DOWN buttons to "tweak" the pointing for best reception, the allowance for acceleration is not all that great, and you can easily have the antenna pointing 20 degrees from where the controller thinks it is. Second, the errors accumulate: if it starts from an inaccurately known position, it will end up with even less accuracy.
There is a "resync" feature, which consists of commanding the motor to turn counterclockwise long enough to give confidence that it's reached the "zero-degree" stopping point. That gets things back to a known condition, but it takes about a minute every time you resync, which is a pain. It would be much handier if the display reflected an actual MEASUREMENT of the position rather than a dead-reckoning guess.
Nevertheless, the unit does its job, and I have had no problems with it. If it's a little off in pointing, you can always do a fine adjustment with the UP and DOWN buttons. Maybe I was expecting too much for the price paid.
Why pay for TV?.......2007-05-02
This is a really great product. I live between two major TV markets and it is nice to just rotate the antenna with my remote control and pick up signals from each. Now, with the advent of digital OTA TV broadcasts, it's nice to be able to fine tune my antenna to get the max signal strength on the digital channels.
The rotating unit itself is very solidly constructed. Mines been installed since 1/07 and has not lost and accuracy. The control box is very small, and can be placed anywhere in your room, it does not need to be close to your TV if it's easier that way. The remote is small and well laid out. The codes used are the same as Pioneer cable boxes, so many multi-function remotes can control the antenna. My Sony remote was easily programmed to work it. The antenna rotates at a reasonable speed, and is quiet so it does not bother the neighbors.

Bang for the Buck.......2007-08-28
This is a terrific little camcorder, living proof that while you can't get something for nothing, you can get a lot for a little. At $150 (plus $20 or so for an SD memory card), it is "priced to fit any budget" and packed with cool features. Since I bought it three months ago it has become a virtual appendage, and I am not a person who gets enamored by gadgets.
I would like to start by saying that I am only a casual photographer/videopgrapher. I am not the guy who has his 'corder screwed to his eyeball 23 hours a day, and I don't record every utterance of my baby nephew or photgraph every sunset. If I did, I would most definitely invest in a higher-end device. But for the casual user, this is an ideal piece of equipment. So let's go over the features, which are surprisingly many:
As a video recorder, it is pretty solid, although the images can be a bit pixellated at times and the flow of playback does stutter periodically. The sound quality is pretty good. It has an easy to use focus ring which allows for close ups, medium distance and long distance filming, and of course there is a decent (x8)zoom lens. Out of the box you can only record 30 seconds or so on the device, so obviously it's necessary to buy an SD card. I bought a 2 MB card for a paltry $20, and that provided me with 3 hours of video memory, which is enough for the casual user. Transfer to computer is accomplished by the usual USB cable and instal software, and while it isn't overly fast, it isn't the slowest I've ever seen, either. The biggest drawback is that it needs a lot of light to shoot decent video.
As a camera it functions better, with sharper, higher-resolution pictures and a built-in flash which is easy to use. With the 2 MB SD card the capacity is 1,395 pictures, which is about 1,200 more than I will take on any vacation. Transfer of pictures is much faster than video. Several software programs allow some limited photoshopping and so on, although for serious editing you must pay for an upgrade. Drawback of the camera is limited to an inability to shoot on the move -- unless you like blurry, warped images, that is. (This doesn't apply to the video, which functions pretty well in transit).
In addition to these two features, the camera also functions as a digital voice recorder, which is pretty cool if you want to record ideas or directions or what have you and you don't have a pen or are driving; it functions as a webcam, if you want one; and it also works as a MPEG-4 music player, although I must admit the directions give no clue on how to access this benny.
Obviously, this is a low-end device, otherwise it would not be so cheap.
But "cheap" doesn't mean crappy. This is a diverse, rugged, durable piece of equipment that will make any casual user happy. Strongly recommended.
