In the cable industry's Hybrid Fiber Coax (HFC) networks, for instance, PowerShield offers the Multiple Service Operator (MSO) a local powering solution that has lower installation costs, lower operational costs, and lower service costs than competing powering technologies. For VoDSL applications, the PowerShield provides local power to the Integrated Access Device (IAD), which is designed specifically for small and medium-sized businesses, as well as the small office/home office (SOHO).
