Very good idea but..........2007-12-22
As with almost anything with Sony lately, software just SUCKS! and it's very expensive for what you get.
It's a shame Sony can't pay for good software designers that should complement their products and as stated in other reviews of Sony products owned and reviewed by me, they just don't listen!
Sony, can you please?
- Add Video Support, no just audio.
- Fire your software designers and hire new ones capable of designing good software and make it available for people like me that bought this very expensive and good very good looking electronic paper weight?
As on the title, this is a very good idea which just does not works! just like the listening aid devices Sony people use that acts more like a noise cancellation buddies...
If you're like me, you'll probably buy it even when reading all this reviews... believe me, i did exactly that but, until Sony update it's crappy software my only advice to you is just don't waste your money with this....

Had to send it back.......2007-12-09
The hardware looks great. Config from the unit itself (getting it on the network both wired and wireless) worked like a charm.
The included software is junk. I installed it on both Vista and XP machines. After spending hours playing with it trying to get it to import my music, firewall settings etc. etc, I could never get the hardware to connect to my server. I hooked the PC to the same switch as the TD-NC1 and it still would not connect the server. The included manual / troubleshooting guide is also a joke/junk.
You should be able to install the software and it should just work. I thought I'd be playing music in a few minutes -- instead I invested an afternoon --> and it still isn't working.
I am returning this unit and will use an airport express/i-tunes to do the same thing.
Good compnay with bad programmed softwares........2007-11-21
I love Sony and I have been useing their products forever from Camera and Camcorders to TV and Entartainment Centers. I love thier design andperformance,
But this little nice box came with a crappy software, and made my weekend like this is my first time dealing with Sony product. I can not install this software, somewhere and somehow it is corrupted. I tried it on two different computers but saw the same result. I got to the point which I had to format my computer and install a new Windows and it didn't work again and I had to do it one more time. Somehow eats your Widnows files to the point which Windows doesn't run at the startup anymore.
I went to Sony store and the guy had no idea what is this thing for.
I gave it a three stars because of its design otherwise would get -2 stars. I wished they had a video transmiter included in the same box and I am sure that would be something nice which worth to have

WIRELESS FM CAR TRANSMITTER
Customer Reviews:
Coby Rules My Vehicles Airwaves.......2007-12-21
I don't take time out of my schedule for reviews unless I have been very disappointed or very pleased. In this case, it is definitely the latter. The Coby FM Transmitter does what it is supposed to do, does it elegantly and with little if any anoyances. Plug it in, find a station free spot on your FM dial, set the Coby to that same frequency, plug your MP3 player in and Rock On. Wayne and Garth never had it so good.
This unit features a very cool blue display, tunes as many frequencies as any FM radio can, plugs into a lighter or outlet and has another outlet on the front under a flip up top.
I detect very, very little difference in sound quality between this and my FM stations. Bass is clean and tight and I have never lost the signal. The added bonus of the spare outlet is a well thought out addition and just great design genius.
My suggestion is to get this unit ASAP, as the price is just too good to pass up. It saved me an easy $60.00 in modifications to add a physical jack for my player at the local car audio emporium. Go for it...Uncle Willie
Excellent Transmission for the Coby-745.......2007-10-25
The Coby-745 is in my opinion, the all-around best buy in the wireless FM car transmitter market. At $17.99 on Amazon, it is roughly half the price of most of it's competitors, but what's amazing is that it provides additional features! The cap on the built in car charger flips off to reveal a spot for another charging plug (like for a cell phone for example). The springs hold the device in tightly while in use and the charger unit is hinged to the transmitter, providing for a 360 degree+ rotation of the unit. The light up screen in blue shows the full frequency channels you can select from with the lighted dial, in increments of 0.1 MHz.
This unit doesn't just look pretty and have nice features, it also performs extremely well. On a 40 minute commute through back roads, highway and city, the unit didn't lose signal once and I heard ZERO interference, yes, that's right, none! Compare that to other reviews.
Downsides? All the downsides are common to most other transmitters: it doesn't have an on/off button, so you have to unplug the unit if you want it to stop drawing power. To get the sound just right, you have to crank the treble on your car stereo a tad (although this just may be a personal preference). And, you have to crank the volume on your mp3 player and/or stereo (and remember to turn the volumes back down when you use your stereo or mp3 player without the transmitter or else risk blowing out your eardrums). There was some static noise when handling the unit initially although I found this went away quickly as the static charge (coming from the user) dispersed.
The sound quality amazes me- very near CD quality sound- and I was very pleased there was no interference- in the 40 minutes driving, I never had to switch channels. As long as it holds up, I don't plan on switching transmitters anytime soon either. The Coby-745 rocks.
