works as advertised. I am using it to connect a WD 500GB External HD to my laptop.
I don't understand why they invented different sized adapters for firewire. I wish the first adapter developed should have been it.

I bought this to link my Sony MiniDV Camcorder to my macintosh computer because it couldn't run with the USB cord that was given. Let's just say that you have to purchase the "ilink" of sony so that you can transfer video to mac. Hmm so I thought to myself why buy an expensive cord, when you can just get this and your pair of firewire cables to do exactly the same thing. Overall its very handy

I bought this product because my notebook has only two USB ports and one 4-pin Firewire port. I wanted to charge my iPod without using a USB port and only have a 6-pin Firwire to iPod cable.
The good news is that I can play my music just fine. For data transfer purposes, this product performs just as I expected!
However, do not purchase this product for the purpose of powering a device. The 4-pin port (at least on my computer) does not provide power, only data. Since this is no fault of the adaptor, I still rate it at five stars.

I have been looking for a way to eliminate costly batteries for my Olympus camera, as I take a lot of pictures of products I sell at home.
This adaptor works like a charm! Only wish it had a longer cord (4ft).

This is an adapter....
I have an Olympus E-10 dSLR camera...
This fits the port on the camera and provides the electricity necessary to power my camera without the use of batteries.
It does what it advertises - nothing more, nothing less.
i would have preferred it if the cord length was a little longer, but that's just personal preference. Also, if the prongs would have been located on the back face of the adapter as opposed to the top, i think i'd feel a little more secure when it juts out of my wall outlet... once again, personal preference.
all in all, good investment as an alternative to draining batteries.
Defective Adapter .......2006-08-22
I ordered the Olympus C7AU AC Adapter for Olympus Digital Cameras from the Amazon web site. Upon arrival, it would not work at all. After three emails I was finally able to recive a confirmation to return it but was surprised when I was told I would have to pay the cost to return the adapter. When I questioned this, I received a very smart response that if I had purchased it at Best Buy the store would not pay my gas or mileage expenses to return it to the store. How absurd for an answer to an Internet sales product!! If they had sent me one that worked in the first place, I would not have had to return it. After complaining, a return label was sent to me as a "courtesy". More than a month has passed since ordering and I am still without the adaptor. By the way, it was overpriced and I wish Best Buy had the adaptor when I wanted to purchase it, but they did not.

Although Amazon.com recommends this specific adaptor for the Olmpus C-770 Ultra Zoom model camera, Olympus's site seems to disagree. (...) You will see that you actually need the Digital Camera AC Adapter (D-7AC) for the C-770 model.
General advice is thus to doublecheck on the manufacturer's site before you buy.

It should be a good smart digital camera. It only deserves four stars because of Korean made stuff. I lost it after I dropped and fell into pieces. I bought this camera from Traveler Photo & Electronics at Taylor Street , San Francisco at a much highter price that your price. I suggest your price is reliable.

This adapter is available in 'generic' form from several camera stores (wolf camera, for instance) and is much cheaper. However, if you *MUST* have the Olympus name, this will work. I've plugged one of each into my D450Z (great digital camera!) and there was no difference. Save your money, if you can.
