This set has a built-in 181-channel NTSC tuner as well as an ATSC tuner for over-the-air HD reception. You can also view high-definition programming (1080i/720p/480p/480i) when connected to an optional receiver or cable/satellite set-top box via the component video inputs. The FPE5016P has a 1366 x 768-pixel resolution, 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio, 165-degree viewing angle, and amazing 2500:1 contrast ratio. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a TV's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.)
The 3D digital comb filter constantly analyzes the three dimensions of picture height, picture width, and picture changes-over-time, to reduce dramatically edge image artifacts while improving transition detail. This set also performs automatic 3:3/2:2 pulldown detection--a handy feature for watching progressive-scan movie programs in their native 24-frame format. To adapt 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video, frames in the original movie must be duplicated; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this duplication by removing the redundant information to display a frame-accurate picture.
It also features Faroudja's Emmy award-winning DCDi (Directional Correlational Deinterlacing) technology, which helps to eliminate the jagginess found in non-HD video content. FaroudjaÕs unique DCDi algorithm identifies all the moving edges in a scene and adjusts the angle of interpolation at each pixel so that the interpolation always follows the edge instead of crossing it, eliminating staircasing or jagged edge artifacts.
Other features include pre-programmed picture control/color temperature and sound settings, closed captioning, V-Chip parental controls, picture-in-picture (PIP) and picture freeze capability, and a USB 2.0 port for connecting an external digital audio or video device. Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. You will need a separate RCA left/right audio cable for sound.
HDMI is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) with your TV--all over a single cable. It provides up to a 5 GB per second bandwidth for transmitting pure digital video and audio signals with no degradation in the transfer. This iPod case isn't great but it does do what it's supposed to do. It successfully protects the iPod from scratches and chips. After a year of use, my iPod mini has no scratches or chips in it.
Unfortunately, there are quite a few disappointing problems with this product.
1. The least annoying problem is the color of the case. It's not 100% clear but rather a frosty color. This leads to you iPod looking duller. (Note: The silicon that covers the screen is much clearer making the screen readable)
2. There is thick silicon on the base. As mentioned in other reviews, this makes it impossible to use a base. It also makes using at least some FM tuners (like the one here: http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=186782# ) very difficult. Charging and updating are still relatively easy because the gap in the bottom is large enough for the plug.
3. The belt clip thing that came with the iPod mini (I have one of the older ones and they came with a belt clip and a wall charger) is rendered completely useless because of the the thickness of the silicon.
4. The silicon attracts dust. This makes the silicon screen dusty and harder to read. On top of that, the screen cover creates bubbles. This makes it very difficult to read.
5. It's really difficult to slip on and off the iPod.
So here's my summary: The DLO Jam Jacket Pro is a cheap product. For it's price, it gets the job done. I would never ever spend more than 10 bucks for this. If you can get it for really cheap from overstock.com or ebay.com or one of those sites, go for it. Just remember that it's a cheapy. If you want something that goes above and beyond the call of duty, it's not this product.

I bought this skin at Best Buy the day I got my Mini simply because I knew I needed a skin for protection but didn't want to wait to have it shipped from the internet and this was the cheapest available. Overall it gets the job done, prevents scratching on the body and screen. As a previous reviewer noted, the covering on the bottom is too thick to be able to use a dock (which I don't use anyway). But I suppose you could just cut the bottom out to dock it. The skin is very grippy and is easy to hold. The reason I gave it only 3 stars is because it seems to attract a lot of dust and lint, so it needs to be cleaned often (which is very easy with a paper towel and a little windex). The silicon screen protector also tends to attract a lot of dust which is probably the most annoying. Overall I can recommend this skin simply because it does it's job well. Although it does attract dust, it's appatently not that uncommon with similar silocon skins.
Good protector but renders the iPod dock and armband useless.......2005-02-08
Have been using this eversince I bought my iPod mini (Sep 2004).
The clear version slightly alters the original color of the Mini. It is available in other colors too.
Jam jacket is a good protection for iPod Mini. It doesn't have a belt clib and hence it is less bulky. It leaves the top of the iPod completely free and hence doesn't obstruct accessories that may sit on the iPod like FM transmiter, NaviPod etc.
Quite an useful product except for the following issues:
1) Can't insert into the dock as the bottom of the Mini is too thick with the jacket
2) Can't insert into the arm band iPod holder for the same reason
3) The entire jacket, especially the thin transparent screen, tends to attract dust and lint (may demand frequent cleaning)
4) There are no perforations on the jacket to let the iPod "breathe" while it is being charged. This might heat up the iPod depending upon the weather conditions.
If you are crazy about the iPod dock, look for a jacket that opens in the bottom to make room for the dock's jack.
There are other similar products featuring silicone jackets with a hard plastic screen protector. This is certainly a great improvement since hard plastic isn't sticky and it doesn't attract dirt as the thin plastic sheath.

My Xtrememac case is better than this........2005-08-03
First of all, I have an email address, I just don't want to subscribe to amazon. Well this ipod case is not the best. there better ones out there. When I first got this case, I thought it rocks, But I was wrong. The silicone was sticky so it attracted a lot of dirt and other crap, It had no air vents in tha back, And the screen protector was silicone so it attracted dust to the screen, and after a couple weeks, it ripped! There are better cases out there like the xterememac silicone sleeve. It has vents in the back so it keeps the ipod cool, It has so screen protector, but I bought some great hard plastic ones, and the silicone is not sticky. It's harder but it gives better protection. It would go with the Xtrememac sleeve or the iskin.

I forgot to mention the jamjacket has no vents in the back so it gets hot! that can make your battery leak. The iskin and Xtrememac have vents in the back so it keeps it cool.

The DLO jam jacket is one of the bad ipod mini skins on the market. This case is crap because it ripped so I tokk it off my mini and I dropped it so it broke. But I have a replacement now. The screen protector is slilicone so it sticks to the screen and it collects dust too much. I now have an Xtrememac clear ipod mini case. The silicone is thicker and it has better protection. It has no screen protector but i made a better screen protector for it. I don't recomend the Dlo Jam jacket for people who want to get their money's worth
Also one more thing, the jamjacket sticks to your ipod.
I recomend The iskin or Xtrememac.

This is a horrible case. it always sticks to your iPod mini making funny looking marks on the screen. It still gets the iPod scratched and dirty. It also is difficult to take on and off.
Good, when you get rid of the screen protector........2005-05-28
Overall this is a very good protective skin, but the screen protector is annoying. The screen protector makes it hard to see the screen. Since I use my ipod a lot, it might scratch or breal easier. My cousin has an ipod too but it has lots of scratches and it's slightly chipped. I got the skin so I could use it longer and noy break it. Even though it makes your ipod a bit bigger, you'll get used to it. If you want to take good care of your ipod, get this or anyother skin. Yuo'll not regret it.
Directions if you want to remove the screen protector.
Get a small sharp knife of some scissors and gently cut it.
