The DS-A2x comes with an on-screen display mode (OSD) that enables you to view track lists, artists, albums, songs, genres, composers on your connected display for easy selection and navigation. If you have long lists on your iPod, you can use four page modes, Large, Medium, Small and Page, to move through the list in progressively larger steps. You'll have absolutely no need to handle your iPod while it's sitting in the DS-A2x as it comes with its own remote controller to control all basic playback functions. The remote controller also brings one-touch control for random shuffle playback over songs or albums, a resume function that will return to the track being played when the iPod is stopped or removed from the Dock and a repeat function for one track or all. You can also switch off the OSD to enjoy video playback via the DS-A2x's composite video output. Onkyo customer Service was no help and said not their issue to insure compatibility. Using a new Onkyo surround sound system.

the Onkyo ds-a2x is a great choice if you want music with great sound and volume. This doc is easy to connect and easy to use, even more so if you have other onkyo products because the remotes interact.

Onkyo DS-A2X Remote Interactive iPod Dock
I recently purchased a Onkyo 605 Receiver. As advertised, it is a superior product. I am very happy with it. I then purchased the IPod Remote and Adapter for the Receiver, figuring there would be advantages of using the Onkyo branded product with their Receiver. Well, Onkyo must have used the A engineers on the Receiver and put their B engineers on the Accessories. The DS-A2X Remote, is disappointing, at best. The interface is something out of the 80's. It is all text, like an old DEC terminal. Not very Ipodish.
I would strongly suggest looking at other products out there first. There are many others (Tuneview, DLO Dock) which offer a more elegant user interface.
This is the first product I have every had to return to Amazon.
If you are taking the time to put together a top-notch system, you will be very dissapointed with this. I cannot understand why Onkyo would have released something like this this when they obviously did not spend the time to create a "best of class" product.

Plays well with others - worth it for your component system!.......2007-08-29
I recently bought an Onkyo receiver with the R1 system and wanted a dock for my iPod. After reading many reviews, I chose the Onkyo dock for it's advertised seemless integration with the Onkyo R1 system-ready receivers so that I could control it with my receiver remote and get the on-screen display.
I am very happy with this purchase. Once configured properly, I was able to plug in my iPod, turn on the receiver and away we went. The on-screen display makes it easy for toggling through playlists, albums, songs, and artists. The line out quality is superior to using the headphone jack (which I had been previously doing). Additionally, I can watch tv shows and movies from my iPod directly on my tv.
Using the more advanced functions of the iPod (like watching a video, or pictures, or shuffling songs within an album, playlist, etc.) involves a little bit more manipulation with the remotes. You have to change the mode so that the OSD no longer operates, and then access functions through the iPod's screen directly (you can still use the included remote for these steps). Now that I figured all this out, it's not that much of a bother. But it would have been nice to have all functions available through the OSD so that this "switching" didn't have to happen.
Overall, I am very satisfied with this purchase and would recommend this dock to anyone with an Onkyo receiver, or even without it.

Bought this and the psw505 subwoofer to go with Yamaha in-wall speakers (960, 660 and 560) and yamaha receiver, v1700. Sound in entire room is awesome! Center really shines when watching regular tv as that's when you can really appreciate it on its own vs part of the whole theater setup. Cherry finish is beautiful. I like that you can flip the receiver for two different looks.

I purchased this center speaker to go with a Polk Audio Monitor 50 system that I have. This speaker sounds clearly better in a warm vocals kind of way then the rest of the system. I think that I will later upgrade the monitor 50 speakers to match this speaker as the improvement is very easy to hear.
CSi3 the perfect complement to RTi4 .......2006-03-01
After purchasing four Polk Audio RTi4s for my front and surround speakers, I replaced my Polk Audio CS245 center with the CSi3. The CS425 was a great speaker that was a good match to my old pair of ARs. However, it didn't provide a perfect match to the RTi4s. The RTi4s and CSi3 now provide a seamless soundstage with clear highs for dialog as well as natural mids and good bass. Two friends have surround systems from Energy, which provide excellent sound quality for movies. However, I prefer my setup for music and am entirely satisfied with my Polks for movies.
