Bought this for the nature sounds.......2007-12-08
I received this product as a gift because I asked for a clock radio that had nature sounds--I've had it for a year. My daughter has the less expensive version of the HoMedics clock radio without the docking station and the quality of the nature sounds is definitely better with this one. I listen to waves as I go to sleep and it is very soothing and I think it helps condition your body to sleep if you have any problems with insomnia.
Things I like about it:
-nature sounds are very nice
-the controls are easy to use
-it has a projector for the time which is easy to read
-I don't use my Ipod as much as some, but finally tried it recently, and was surprised that the sound quality is fairly good, though not excellent. It was fine for listening to music, but not what I would use for a party or guests.
Things I don't like"
-The numbers are too bright for me at night, even at the dim setting, including the projection clock. I put a tissue over them at night so it's not too glaring. They don't bother my husband at all. If you are very sensitive to light at night, this might bother you, but otherwise I wouldn't worry about it.
Soothing.......2007-09-03
Yes the radio reception is not so hot but that wasn't what I bought it for anyway. Great with my nano and the ocean waves are perfect to fall asleep to.
YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.......2007-06-09
For the price, this is not a bad clock radio. It is a good looking unit and the sound is pretty good (not great).
Nature sounds are quite good. An optional remote control can be purchased for $20.
Overall, I would say the cons outweigh the pros. I agree with the other reviewers that the FM reception is bad. There is also a problem no one has mentioned. The digital clock has a narrow viewing angle much like the old projection televisions. It is impossible to read the time unless you are within 15 feet or so and the clock is within a few degrees of your eye level. This is a problem if you are in bed and the unit is placed on a nightstand that is above or below the top of the bed. I have never seen this before in a digital clock radio. Dimming the display exacerbates the problem.
UPDATE - Stopped working after 3 months. I would definitely not buy this item again. All around a very disappointing product. Save your money
Good sound quality.......2007-05-21
I am extremely satisfied with this product. The sound quality is very nice. Also, the option to set a timer to turn off the audio comes in handy quite often.

The ProMedia Ultra 2.0 personal audio system is designed to deliver sub/sat level performance from the simplicity and portability of a two-speaker setup. It was created for consumers who want superior, full-range sound quality but do not want to give up the space or run the wire required for a subwoofer. This speaker system easily connects to Apple iPods and other MP3 players, laptop and desktop computers, and portable audio/video devices such as televisions, CD and DVD players. Listeners can also simultaneously feed a laptop PC signal and an MP3 signal to the speakers for mixed sound playback, making this system an excellent choice for both multimedia presentations and entertainment. The ProMedia Ultra 2.0 consists of two magnetically-shielded satellite speakers. Each satellite is a highly efficient two-way design that utilizes dual 2.5-inch fiber-composite cone drivers and a 1-inch metalized polymer tweeter. An exclusive Klipsch MicroTractrix Horn is coupled to the tweeter for maximum clarity and efficiency. The woofers are long-throw units powered by unique neodymium motor structures. This audiophile design approach provides rich midrange clarity, extended airy highs and a satisfying bass punch, creating balance throughout the audio spectrum. One of the satellites - the control speaker - hosts a bass level control along with the main volume, a headphone jack and auxiliary input jack for convenience. Each satellite has a sleek appearance with floating grilles and undercone termination, which hides the voice coil leads for a cleaner cone look. More powerful than anything in its price range, the ProMedia Ultra 2.0 speaker system provides the most satisfying detailed and dynamic sound reproduction available for two-channel multimedia applications.

Klipsch: A Grand Old Name in Audio.......2007-12-13
I was first introduced to Klipsch speakers when I was 19 years old and attending Purdue University. A engineering student buddy took me to the "Golden Ear" high fidelity store where I was exposed to the 1812 Overture, cannons and bells included, via a Mercury Living Presence LP. I was astounded at the perhaps bigger than life sound coming out of the Klipschorn speakers. At over a thousand dollars for the enormous speaker, it was way more than a student could afford but I vowed to have a Klipschorn one day. That day never came but I will never forget the solid, gut pounding sounds of the cannons coming from the Klipsch speakers. Now, in my elder years I came across these affordable speakers which have the Klipsch name and retain some of the famous Klipsch quality that I have admired through the years. Paul Klipsch has passed out of the picture and the speakers are made in China rather than Hope, Arkansas but these are quality speakers and well suited for PC sound. I got them for my laptop which plays DVDs but sounds so miserable, you don't want to listen to soundtrack. These inexpensive speakers have the clarity and range you want and need for movie audio. And jazz music sounds very good on them too. No deep bass and certainly nothing like Klipschorn sound from these little speakers, but minimal distortion and maximum clarity you can expect. For the price, they are exceptional. If you buy them for your PC or to occasionally play your MP3 music, you will not be disappointed.
great sound but short life.......2007-11-28
The speakers have great sound but after 6 months the speakers would quit without warning. I checked Klipsch message board and this seemed to be a common problem.
Nice speakers, while they worked.......2007-05-13
These speakers sounded quite nice for me while they worked, with a nice crisp upper range. However, after a few months they intermittently stopped producing sound. I'd recommend you stay away from these speakers --- they could clearly do with better quality control.
Very good speakers, but..........2006-12-16
I would have loved these speakers had I not already owned the Klipsch GMX A 2.1 set. I was willing to sacrifice some bass to ditch my bulky subwoofer, which is why I bought the silver ProMedia speakers in the first place. While they sound good for what they are, they couldn't match the GMX set, which costs about the same but has a sub.
OK, so this wasn't a surprise -- I already said that I was prepared to sacrifice some bass, but the ProMedia speakers didn't sound as good in the mids or highs as the GMX kit. They simply had a lot less depth, no matter how I tried to equalize away the difference. They sound quite good when you are right in front of them, but they can't fill the room like the GMX.
In short, Klipsch spoiled me and I sent the ProMedia speakers back, but I'm still giving them four stars because I can't imagine speakers in this form factor sounding much better -- but if you can spend a few extra dollars and have room for a subwoofer, look at the GMX speakers. You don't have to be an audiophile to appreciate the difference.
Very good computer speakers.......2005-11-26
With these speakers, you're not going to get high-volume or house-shaking bass. If that's what you want, buy something else. These are $100 computer speakers, not a replacement for your home stereo.
I chose these speakers over the Bose Companion 2 (exact same price, and arguably the same sound quality) for the following reasongs:
1) The Bose model looks "plasticy", the Klipsch dooesn't (I have the black model, btw)
2) The Bose model doesn't have an on/off switch, the Klipsch does
3) The Bose model's line in is on the back, the Klipsch has it on the front (easier to get to)
I rate sound quality as 8.5 out of 10 (vs. my home stereo at 10/10). Don't expect audiophile sound from these little speakers, and you'll be happy with them.
My only complaint is the volume dial: the knob is solid black and you can't see how high you have the volume turned up. A little white on the knob would be a big help.
