TuneFlex is a dock and charger designed with automobile convenience in mind. GREAT CONCEPT, BAD SOUND QUALITY.......2007-03-27
I was happily looking forward to use the TuneFlex with my new 2007 Acura MDX. The TuneFlex is well crafted and well made. My 5G Ipod Video fits in perfectly. I also really like having a dock connector pass-through.
HOWEVER, after hooking up the TuneFlex to my MDX's cigarette socket and plug in my 5G Ipod, I immediately hear a faint hissing / buzzing sound emanating from the MDX's stereo system. The fact that the MDX's audio system is pristine just made everything worse because the buzzing is definitely noticeable. When I switch back to my old FlexDock by TEN technology, there's no buzzing at all. Granted it could be just the MDX but the fact that TEN can make their Flexdock free of buzzing noise means that Griffin need to take their TuneFlex back to the drawing board.
Best auto kit on the market..........2007-02-06
After reading a review of several auto docking kits, I decided to give the TuneFlex a try and I'm glad I did. Granted this kit requires a tape player, it is more functional and has better sound quality than any FM transmitter. After purchasing my new iPod, I bought an iTrip, which worked, but living in a major metro area created major static issues and I was forced to literally hold my iPod next to my head unit. Wireless yes, but definitely no hands free! The TuneFlex is great in that it lets me position the iPod where I can see it easily and then it doesn't move. It is always charging so I am never caught with a dead battery when I forget to remove the iTrip. There is no static and I was very suprised with the sound quality of the tape adapter.
Great Concept Not Worth Buying Though.......2007-01-30
Theres nothing better than innovation these days, and I thought when I bought the TuneFlex Dock that griffin had this down...but indeed they had not, instead I bought a device that felt like it was a prototype. The Greatest thing about the little device is the windshield free mount, no installation necessary you can bend it anyone which way and no problems. That part about this is great. When we come to the design the tuneflex is awesome though the build is bad. The built in line-out at the bottom of the base intended to make it easy to remove your iPod on the fly turns out to be a terrible output. When I plugged the 3.5mm cable through this port, loud, high-pitch static is very noticeable with no way of adjusting sound on either the radio or the ipod to settle it, on top of that the TuneFlex causes high amounts of electrical noise to pass through to the ipod, rendering the iPod line-out almost just as bad with electrical static in the sound. When it comes down to it this product is not worth the buy yet, my advise wait till Griffin releases v2 with some much need improvements.

1. Excellent Car Mount No Installation Needed
2. Charges your iPod
3. Has a adjustment nob for multiple iPod sizes
4. Has iPod dock passthrough
Cons:
1. Both iPod line-out and Griffin TuneFlex line-out release annoying electrical static unfix-able without low-pass filters. This alone is a reason to not spend the money on this product)
Tune Flex 5G iPod cradle.......2007-01-11
The cradle itself is awesome, the stress it puts on your power outlet is scary, just trying to adjust it when its plugged in makes you kind of wince thinking its gonna rip the outlet off the car, but, what else are you going to use?? Its a great product.
