Apple iPod Shuffle Dock - Works but Overpriced.......2007-11-17
This replacement dock is slightly better and cheaper than the one provided by Apple for the Shuffle. However, it is still overpriced. This product does work, but there are alternatives ranging from 40 cents to $5 that will do the same job.
This fills a product need created by Apple. If this was made better the Docks wouldn't break so easily. Normal USB adapters should have been included with the product instead of the mini-doc, or at least backup cables. A standard USB port connection could also have been used.
Check out the alternatives which are much more reasonably priced.

Great little changer .......2007-11-09
I was so surprise to find out the price to replace the shuffle's charger after it fell on the floor and got step on. I looked high and low before deciding on this one. It works like a dream. Its easier to keep on eye on and store. Your shuffle nests right in the groves, so you know its in correctly and you just plug it into the port on your company, presto. No more pushing wire away off your keyboard, and untangling.

Sorry -- I did not actually try this unit, just wanted to make sure that you also view another alternative for this device: IncipioBud USB adapter for the 2 Gen Apple iPod Shuffle
I have used the IncipioBud which works just fine and is much much less expensive that the device listed here. The only downside of the IncipioBud is that it could be used to fry the electronics of a non-shuttle device. Since the adapter listed here uses a cradle just like the original dock from Apple, that just wouldn't be an issue.
(I gave this unit one star just to make sure people would read this review. Sleazy -- I know, but...)
great replacement docking station.......2007-10-21
I accidentally snapped the connector off of my original shuffle dock so i bought this as a replacement. works just like the old one, and the shuffle snaps tightly enough onto the docking station that it won't fall off- on my desktop pc the usb port is sideways, but this isn't a problem with this device.

I was excited about this product, mostly because I didn't want to deal with wires and my laptop (last generation powerbook 12 inch). However, the dock is wide enough that you can't use the other usb input.

Why does apple's cable cost so much more?.......2007-12-25
I bought this months ago after the inevitable failure of the original dock that came with my shuffle. It worked pretty well with my laptop (xp pro). However, it did very rarely have an issue where it repeatedly disconnected and reconnected, once causing my laptop to crash. You just have to be careful about where it is and jostling the computer or placing papers on top of the incipiobud.
When I tried syncing to my desktop at home (xp) instead this morning, I encountered the little issue about using it with front ports. Since it wasn't working, I went and bought a DLO PowerBug cable thinking I could keep the wall plug at work and charge it there and all would be right with the world. DISASTER! Either iTunes would simply fail to recognize the shuffle or I would get a message about the iPod being corrupted. When I tried to restore using either the powerbug cable or the incipio bud (itunes or separate retore utility), I kept getting that 1418 error message and all the data on the shuffle got killed. Someone on a board had the solution. I went back to the incipiobud and tried to restore using the back usb ports. Success! You simply may not be able to use front usb ports with it. Plug it into the back. Not a big deal for me since my computer hangs from a lazy susan type thing, but obnoxious enough to take a star away. So four stars because it works just fine on the back ports with all the other devices still plugged in and was about 1/10 the cost of the DLO evil death cable I'll be returning as soon as the store opens after Christmas.

I bought this to replace my broken shuffle dock, and while it does charge and sync the ipod, it doesn't work for me.
.
First: it's insanely small. I had a horrible time keeping track of it in my computer bag and ultimately lost it completely.
Second: the design makes me nervous. The first gen shuffles also plugged directly into the usb port -- I lost mine when someone small snapped it right off. I'm lucky it didn't wreck my usb port. This charger also plugs straight into the usb port, making me nervous for both the shuffle and my port.
Third: because it does stick directly out from the usb plug, you *really* have to have your computer on a flat surface with a few inches of clearance in order to sync your shuffle -- you can't leave your laptop and shuffle sitting on the the couch (or any other soft surface) without putting undue pressure on your usb port.
So, if you have a stand alone work station with easy usb port access and are good at keeping track of small dongles, then this would probably work well for you. If you wander around with a laptop or have hard to reach usb ports, you'll probably prefer the flexibility of a cable.

The USB Adapter for the iPod Shuffle made by incipio fills a product need created by Apple. The reality is this adapter should have been included with the product instead of the mini-doc. Or, a standard USB port connection should have been used. Either way, this is a handy accessory for your iPod shuffle, and it works with both 2nd and 3rd generation models.
Pros
This unit is not only smaller than the Apple shuffle dock, it's also cheaper.
Cons
Clearly this is a low end accessory. Failure rates are inevitable, so at these prices it pays to buy a few to have a backup. Additionally, secondary USB ports and USB hubs may not work with this one, so you have to use a main port.
This unit is worth a try. I feel like you can do a little better on price, so shop around. If you have the Shuffle, though, it pays to get some version of this adapter.

The IncipioBud USB dock for the Ipod shuffle is great for someone who wants to be organized & prepared w/o having to carry around a bunch of stuff like a Nomad. Only flaw is I notice on my PC, if I attempt to attach my other USB's or flashdrive that it interferes with this device working/reading properly. So to avoid this, just be sure when you have it docked, all you're wanting to do while it is, is play with your itunes/ipod. Otherwise, it's a great addition, compact & handy CHEAP ($$).
Much more convenient than the docking station.......2007-10-13
This device will make your day easier since you will no longer have to bring the docking station everywhere. This one is much smaller and by design is not that exposed to breaking the 'pin' or what it is called. A good and cheap investment.
