The Uniden TRU9466 is thoughtfully designed for small businesses or homes that find two separate phone lines to be one of life's necessities. The system is expandable to include a total of 10 handsets with charging cradles (available separately). This TRU9466 base system includes one handset, and is the only one of the expandable system that requires connection to a phone jack. DirectLink two-way radio communication is built into each handset and the base speakerphone, allowing them to function as an in-home intercom system or baby monitor. Redial any of the last three dialed numbers at the touch of a button, activate five-way conference calls or just enjoy the consistent, clear 5.8 GHz digital signal transmission. You can transfer incoming calls between the handset and base, and make use of the convenient hands-free design by using the included belt clip and built-in headset jack (headsets available separately). Easily adjust handset and ringer volume levels to your comfort, and set the handset LCD menu to one of three menu languages (English, French, or Spanish). A page button lets you quickly locate a handset if it's strayed under the couch cushions. The base is wall mountable or sits sturdily on a countertop, supplying you plenty of display options; a total of 20 different ring tones (10 tones, 10 melodies) give you a variety of choices. Frequent freezes require unplugging battery.......2007-12-22
A very good phone, but the handset freezes and has to be rebooted, like a bad operating system. You disconnect the handset from the battery for a few seconds, plug it in again, and then recharge it, and you love the phone till it happens again, which it does. Two Stars.
Not a wall phone!.......2007-12-07
This phone seemed nice but certainly would not fit where most wall phones would be mounted. It protrudes too far into a traffic area.
Great 2 line cordless phone system.......2007-11-21
I a phone nut. I have them all over my house and office. I have tested most cordless phones on the market, and none of them cheapies. Sony, Panasonic, ATT etc. The Uniden 5.8 has been hands down the best overall for sound, range and longevity.
The TRU9466 is the 2nd generation that I have owned. I have about 8 handsets and they system works great. I really liked that I did not have to get an answering machine with it. I just needed 2 lines with a speaker base with dial pad.
Another great feature is you can set each line to ring a certain way or turn it off. For instance my wife does not want my office line ringing in our bedroom, so we turn it off.
Overall it is a very good system with a great track record in my book.
Just about the perfect phone - for the right customer..........2007-11-20
First, a couple of things.
There seems to be questions about whether the handsets support two lines. This confusion is created by very poor sales documentation, and even the manuals are week. I can tell you that yes, the additional handsets not only support two line, but do it very well and intuitively.
Secondly, those that gig this phone a star for not having an answering machine. Well, that just doesn't make sense. It doesn't have an answering machine on purpose! If you want an answering machine, buy the next model up that has the answering system you need.
For those of us with multi-lines and voice mail, this is the perfect phone. In fact, after a month of research, I do believe this is the only phone on the market equipped like this (multi-line, VM support and NO answering machine). All the others have answering machines you have to pay for, then never use.
Setup is a snap. The interface is very clear. The displays are very clear. The two-line operation is excellent.
Range has not been an issue for me at all.
Voice is clear.
I purchased 3 additional handsets.
If I HAD to gig the phone for anything, it would be that you cannot change the ringer sound on the base station. You can set one of 20 to each line on the handsets, but the base is fixed. I do find that weird.
Great cordless phone.......2007-11-13
This replaced my old Uniden 9650 cordless 2 line phone which had no caller ID and very few features. I really like the display window and features of the 9466- especially the do not disturb mode- so I can shut off the ringers. The range is good, there is no static however the 9650 had a little better sound through the handset but less range of volume. Considering all the other features of the phone, overall, I would recommend this phone.
