Siemens 4200 Gigaset 2.4 GHz Supplementary Handset (Silver and Black)

Amazon.com Product Description

Expand your Siemens Gigaset 4215, 4210, 4010, or 4015 system with this convenient 4200 supplementary handset. The 2.4 GHz digital technology extends your communicating range, and a well-chosen suite of features makes it ideal for small office or busy home use: six-day standby battery, clock and alarm, appointment reminder, and a navigation key to help you move through the intuitive menus.

A 30-number caller ID memory and 200 speed-dial presets are both displayed on the large five-line backlit LED screen. This slim handset, weighing just 5.6 ounces and measuring only 2-by-6.5-by-1.5-inches, has volume control, call waiting, flash, hold, and last number redial.

This cordless handset provides a speakerphone for hands-free operation. The long battery life provides 10 hours of talk and 6.25 days of standby with a low-battery indicator. With multiple Gigaset handsets, intercom, room monitor, and call transfer and conferencing functions are also available, depending on the features of the base station.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent longevity.......2007-02-19

My family has owned this system for over five years and have experienced little to no problems with any of the handsets or the base. The biggest plus of these phones is their durability. In five years they have been dropped hundreds of times, chewed on by a large dog, had coffee spilled on them - you name it and this phone has been through it. Initially, we did have some problems with low battery life, but we switched to newer Energizer rechargeables and all is now fine. My absolute favorite feature is the intercom feature. Our home is three stories so it is a hassle to try to get the attention of someone on the first floor if you are on the third. Since we have a handset in the middle of each floor, I can just press a button and chat rather than treking down two flights of stairs. This has proven to be an indisposable feature and I have tried to no avail to find another expandable system that has this feature. One negative feature that is a bit annoying is the lack of a flash button. To answer call waiting calls you must push the memory button. If you hold it too long you will enter the memory menu and then you have missed the incoming call. The other negative is that these phones are not readily available at local stores. We lost a handset recently (literally lost the handset, no fault of Siemens) and had to order the phone online rather than running out to big box mart for a replacement - a minor inconvenience. In fact, both of the negative comments are minor inconveniences, not deal breakers. From reading the posts, others have had technical support issues, but in our five years of experience with these phones under the most severe conditions (small children, large dog, clumsy owners) we have only had to contact technical support once when one of the handsets wasn't charging properly. We reached technical support right away and they suggested cleaning the contacts with alcohol. We did and it worked. And no, there is no interferene with our wireles home network.

3 out of 5 stars Pretty Good Phones, Overall.......2006-06-07

I have used the Gigaset 4215 base and three 4200 extension phones for about 3 years. Overall I have been quite pleased with them. The sound quality is fine, the speakerphone is convenient, the features are ample.

Reliability seems to come up a lot in reviews of this product, so I'll particularly focus on that. The first 4215 base didn't work, so I exchanged it at Best Buy, no problem. After that, the base unit and all extension units worked fine. One extension unit did recently die when the batteries leaked. I had replaced the original batteries and should have bought better-quality replacements.

Poor sound quality is another issue that gets mentioned often in reviews. I haven't had any problems with sound quality. Occasionally I've noticed interference with either the 802.11b WiFi system or the microwave, manifested as a "clicking" noise. It stops when I move away from the WiFi or turn the microwave off.

Complexity could be an issue, if you don't like to read manuals. I spent a couple hours reading the manuals and setting up the phones, and have had no issues since then.

Finally, I've dropped the handsets numerous times and the base unit has been subjected to several power outages, with no ill effects. I can use the handsets all over the house, as well as outside and even across the street. The battery life is fine, I never have run out of batteries during a conversation and in our house the handsets only find their way back to the charger cradles every couple days or so.

What don't I like? I wish the handsets had jacks for headsets. And there is a "lag" between key presses and the corresponding tones, which is a bit irritating when dealing with automated phone systems (e.g. entering your account number).

In the end, I've been happy with these phones. We are moving to a new house and I am looking for a phone system which can accept more than four extension phones. I'll be buying either a Siemens 2400 system (really cheap on eBay, but no speakerphone feature) or a Siemens 8800 system (not so cheap, but have speakerphone). Siemens phones get a terrible pasting in the reviews here, but I've had a happier experience.

Finally, I like the styling. I know, it is subjective, but I think the looks of the VTechs, Panasonics, etc are pretty cheesy.

1 out of 5 stars Don't Buy this phone!.......2004-11-09

I've bought two of these phones and the base is defective. Both times the base went dead and Siemens would not fix stating that it was and act of god(power fluctuations). The second time I purchased I owned the phone less than 60 days!

Siemens customer service Sucks!

5 out of 5 stars Works flawlessly.......2004-10-14

I have 3 units and looking to add a couple for complete in-house coverage. Best phone I have ever had. Exceeded all expectations.

5 out of 5 stars Cell phone features for the house!.......2004-07-25

I've had this phone, and two extra handsets, for a year now, and have really enjoyed it. The range is excellent, and the phones are really feature packed. One feature I use often is the voice dial -- just push a button and say the name of the person you want to call, and the phone dials the number for you. Also, the phone will announce who is calling after the second ring. I've not had any problems with battery life, and am still using the original batteries that came with it -- which are just AA rechargeables, not some $15 special "battery pack" that most other cordless phones use, so when they do go out, I can easily pick up a set at any store. Plus the voice mailbox function works with just the push of a button -- we have the Verizon voice mail system with our package, and don't need the one in the phone, but it works seamlessly.

Amazon.com Product Description

The Emerson CKS2237 Dual Alarm Clock Radio features Emerson's exclusive, patented SmartSet auto time-setting technology, so you'll always know the precise time. This clock radio is also loaded with features that ensure easy, dependable operation. Trust the Emerson CKS2237 to create the ideal sleeping and waking environment so you wake up on time, feeling rested and ready to start your day.

Weather conditions, power outages, and other problems can cause ordinary clock radios to cease working properly. But the Emerson CKS2237 is designed to never let you down. In fact, it automatically sets itself to the correct year, month, date, day and time as soon as you plug it in, and there's no need to reset the time after an interruption of electricity. The Emerson CKS2237 also features seven day-of-the-week LED indicators, high-lo display dimmer control, and automatic Daylight Saving and Leap Year time adjustments. Thanks to its large, easy to read 1.4-inch green display for time and .6-inch green display for month and date, even when you're just waking up, you won't have to struggle to see the exact time and date. Extremely reliable, the Emerson CKS2237 uses a battery that can last up to 5-8 years, depending on the length and frequency of power interruptions. For added peace of mind, the system comes with a low-battery indicator, and an included, extra long-life battery back-up system with 3-volt lithium battery.

The CKS2237 adjusts to meet the needs of your unique schedule by letting you set the programmable dual alarms for weekday, weekend, or everyday operation. And to ensure that you go to sleep and wake up in the way that suits you best, you can choose the sleep-to-music function, and either a radio or buzzer alarm. Other options include an auto shut-off timer (if you only want the alarm to ring a set number of times); snooze (if you need a little extra sleep); and the repeat alarm (if you prefer to have your sleep interrupted a few times before you ultimately get up). You'll also never have to worry about not hearing your alarm; the wide-range, three-inch dynamic speaker offers excellent sound quality.

2 out of 5 stars Doesn't work with new Daylight Saving Time dates.......2007-10-29

I have owned this clock since 2001, and it has worked great. The best feature was being able to plug it in and have the date and time automatically set. Power outages no longer cleared the date/time, and it used to adjust properly for Daylight Saving Time. I say used to, because when Congress changed the dates in 2006, the clock no longer resets properly. In the Fall, it adjusts a week ahead of schedule, and vice versa in the Spring. So my "automatically adjusting clock" is not "mostly automatically adjusting" - twice a year you need to manually set the time. As this was the biggest selling point to me, the clock is now essentially worthless. Avoid this product and find a clock that truly sets itself using radio waves, not internally hard-coded dates.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful alarm clock.......2007-09-06

My son was given this alarm clock for christmas last year and I did not realize hit would keep time on it's own. It is wonderful. I like that there are two alarm settings so you can have a weekday and weekend time set up. I recommend this clock if the power goes out it resets itself to the correct time via Colorado.

4 out of 5 stars My favorite alarm clock radio(s).......2007-08-29

I have 2 different SmartSet models. I've had one for well over a year, and the 2nd for just a few months. I bought it for my husband because I've been so happy with mine. I love the time-reset feature. It's really easy to set and use this clock and the alarms. It has a lot of flexibility without being overly complicated. Some reviewers have mentioned their clocks are either fast or slow. Both my clocks keep the correct time TO THE MINUTE. I also can't say I had any problems with the daylight savings change. The older clock had a one-time-only fix when the change went into effect. I do not have to repeat this 'fix' ever again. The second clock was already programmed for the new DST. The radio reception is as good as any alarm clock radio I've ever owned (which is to say, not great, but functional). Yes, the display is a bit too bright, even on the dim setting - but it doesn't disturb my ability to sleep.

4 out of 5 stars great funtionality.......2007-08-07

just plug it in , and forget it , No worries. Amazingly well design clock, control buttons very simple to operate. Dual Alarm, RESET IT SELF, very SMART piece of electronic. However, i think Emerson can do better job with the product quality. I had to return the first one due to malfuntioning buttons on top panel. The second one works fine. thanks

5 out of 5 stars always on time.......2007-07-03

We have several of these clocks now. They reset automatically whenever the power goes out, and the numbers are large enough to read in the middle of the night without glasses. All in all, very convenient.
