Customer Reviews:
Owned for almost 3 years, and love it.......2007-12-12
Yes, the battery has definitely quit on me, but for it to last this long is quite a feat. This is a product of great quality. I've dropped it too many times to count, but the mp3 player still works perfectly. And as a few people have mentioned here, the sound quality is just GORGEOUS.
Yes, it's bulky, but this was definitely the best buy when I first purchased it. The only other mp3 player comparable to this was the 40gb iPod, which did not have any color, method of storing pictures, voice recording, radio, and limited audio file types that it could play. I have no regrets buying this, and will probably just continue using and dropping it for another year or two before I start looking for another.
The Best Piece of Equipment I Ever Owned........2007-11-09
An amazing product. I have it for three years now. The sound quality both for recording and playing is excellent. Very reliable and solid. All features work fine and are quite useful. Changing the battery is relatively easy once you know how to proceed. I'll probably upgrade the hard drive to a 60G soon...
My Jukebox Archos is more reliable.......2007-10-22
Wouldn't buy another iRiver product. I had battery problems from the start also it would just turn off for no reason even with a fully charged battery. The sound on my much older Archos is sounds better than the iRiver. I'm about to run it over with my car. Tried calling for support, but, of course did not get any. Try another MP3 player.
Almost three years and still working - BEST AUDIO of all.......2007-06-06
No doubt in my mind that this unit has THE best sounding audio and lots of eq features. If you like the sound of crappy mp3s then so be it, you don't need a player as good as this, but if you want to hear wav files the way they sound on a CD, powered by a great sounding amp and EQ, this is it. All you need are some good noise cancelling phones like the great Sennheiser open type, and you're good to go, coast to coast.
Waiting for my batt to die - not yet, at least! If it does I will just get another put in. It's really no big deal.
The interface is excellent and can be used blind once you learn the simple, simple, simple intuitive navigation system. Buttons neve scratch or dent even with my digg nails.
Did I say this player has the BEST sound quality? Yes I think it does. TrueBass algorithm if u want it too!
The radio works, the iRiver makes an excellent full-fi field recorder with an external mic, plus u can store all of your files, your pictures, powerpoints, and get it quick with USB. I have 30 Gb in there and it boots up in about 25 seconds, so it is a bit of a wait, but not bad.
RIP 340. It was a great year!.......2007-01-07
I bought my 340 roughly one year ago. I set that baby up with Rockbox and I was in heaven! I raved to everyone I could about how great it was: great sound, fm transmitter, playlists on the fly, games, creating/recording my own mp3s, 40GB for a decent price. Sadly, my 340 died a couple of weeks ago. Yes, after just 1 year. Unfortunately, I had to sell its remains in order to finance a replacement. I loved this mp3 player so much I'm actually considering buying another one rather than joining the evil iPod empire. So, I give the 340 3 stars because it's great while it lasts but it doesn't last very long. Just to drive the point home, I also had an h140 that died after roughly 2 years of ownership.
Product Description
The Wave radio II delivers deeper tones and crisper, more accurate audio performance than the original. The key to the improved sound is the new dual tapered waveguide technology, exclusively from Bose. Engineers re-sculpted the interior of the Wave radio II to accommodate not one, but two 26" folded waveguides. These dual waveguides amplify the low-frequency output, reproducing musical notes a full one-half octave lower than the original Wave radio. The result: Instruments like kettle drums and bass guitars have a more natural presence. With such accurate sound reproduction, you can appreciate more of the intricate nuances of many instruments, including the human voice. You may even hear details in music that you've never heard before. There's also a new equalization feature for talk radio. It automatically compensates for the artificially boosted low frequencies found in some talk radio programs so announcers sound more natural. The Wave radio II is simple to use. Instead of buttons on the unit, everything is conveniently controlled with a well-organized credit card-sized remote. And setup is easy too. The digital FM/AM tuner, amplifiers and speakers are all built into the unit. Just unpack it and plug it in to enjoy Bose quality sound. The display panel is large and bright, with big, bold text that's easier to read from across the room. It displays more information now too. Radio station, current time and alarm setting are all shown simultaneously. You can also use your Wave radio II to enjoy lifelike sound with your TV, VCR, DVD player or computer, thanks to the auxiliary input jack. Or plug your headphones into the convenient headphone jack for private listening. You can even place the Wave radio II near your TV or computer monitor because the speakers are magnetically shielded to avoid interference with the picture image.

Great sound!.......2007-12-18
Sounds and looks great. The only downfall is that there are no controls on the unit so if you loose the remote you cant use it.
Bose Wave Radio II.......2006-11-12
This latest model has excellent sound and an elegant look. However, the controls are no longer on the unit itself but only on the remote. Aside from the problem of where to store the remote in a secure spot so that it doesn't fall behind the bedside table or on the floor, I use this radio as an alarm so this frequently creats problems when I am sleepily fumbling for the snooze button or the off button and I either can't find the remote or I brush it off the bedside table and under the bed. Of course, that means that I do get up but in a very irritable mood.
Close to perfect, but not quite..........2006-08-15
Great styling, sound, and features really make this a standout product. The Bose Wave radio is a thing of beauty and will enhance any room decor, while the sound quality is outstanding. It has nice features, with the auto dimming LED display and the gradual volume increase on the alarm particulary well thought out.
I have one gripe - all the time setting features are set by remote control, which in theory is cool, but in practise is a pain in the neck. On most clock radios, to get the digits turning quickly when setting the clock / alarm time, you hold the button down - same with the Bose remote, except that the infrared link isnt perfect, so instead of being able to advance the time quickly, the time advances slowly (painfully so) because the button never stays 'held down' long enough. It took me about 20 mins to advance to the desired time - doesnt sound too inconvenient, but when you've just shelled out over $300 for a clock radio, it's a bit frustrating.
Still highly recommend product - only loses a star because of time setting shortcoming.
over priced product .......2006-07-27
It wasn't worth the money that I payed for. It is a good radio if you have an external antenna. I would play it in the office and could never get a decent signal until I had to pay an extra $30 for an antenna. If you are going to pay $300 plus you should get something that works out of the box. I could have purchased a lesser know brand and recieved better reception then what I got. Overall if you want to end up purchasing more products to make your system work to perfection this is the product for you. There are plenty of products that don't cost as much and deliver everthing this did and more.
No comparison.......2006-07-07
This radio, which stems from the original Bose Wave radio is an outsanding product. The quality of sound is incredible and stands in a category of its own. The reproduction of each frequency sounds superior to most anything I have heard in the past (and I have plenty of hi-fi stereo experience). The radio is incredibly small and if you had your eyes closed you would guess the item was much, much larger. Many people are complaining about poor FM reception, or problems because there are no more buttons on the radio, etc. What I will say is that a radio is and should be reviewed for the sound quality before ANYTHING else- because that is its main purpose. The alarm clock works well, and through Boses promotion program you can get a bigger remote that works in the dark. This product should receive 5 starts for the way it sounds and how small and convenient it is. Yes, it is a bit pricey but the difference in price and resale value sets this product in a category of its own. (Check out ebay if you don't believe me for resale value!) I will say the aux input (allows you to connect an outside CD player, or IPOD, mp3 player, etc) is a 3.5mm input this time instead of an RCA jack (but that problem is solved at radioshack or best buy easily) and the FM antenna input is now a 3.5mm also instead of a coaxial input (yet again, this can be solved at an electronics store). The display is large and it dims when it is dark in the room where it is placed. This system is well worth the pruchase and can save you money as you avoid spending hundreds more on several audio components (receiver, cd player, speakers, subwoofer). Bottom line is that this thing sounds great and will fill a room with incredible sound at any volume. I highly recommend this product or an older Bose Wave Radio if you are considering either.

THIS UNIT IS GREAT!!!!!!.......2007-10-14
Now, I have been on various websites like CNET and other sites that review electronics. Some of the people who have reviewed this product don't make any sense. Everyone is entitled to their opinions! This UNIT is just great. I got mine Friday. I originally had the wave radio. It was nice, but I was experiencing some difficulties with the cd player. BOSE was great about it, they gave me a full refund. Then, I ordered this model. I was sooooooooooo impressed by the sound that comes out of this small, compact unit! All those people who are nitpicky and so darn opinionated, BE QUIET!!! If you want a GREAT, and I mean GREAT sounding system that is compact, easy to use and that you can take from room to room, BUY THIS....It is worth every penny! Another thing, I have read where people say, I turned this unit all the way up and was not impressed with the sound. The average music listener doesn't turn any stereo ALL the way up to the max! They may play their music a little louder at times. Trust me this system can handle it!!!! So readers ingore those people please and MAKE THE INVESTMENT!!!
A beatiful thing!.......2006-12-20
I bought this for my study. I wanted a simple all in one, plug and play. I got SO much more! It is rich and room filling at all sound levels! It is expensive.....yes, you get what you pay for! This is a great item don't hesitate if you want a one piece masterpiece! Pax.
