perfect.......2007-12-26
i recommend it for any one from 3 years to 100. it has a speaker,2 headphone jacks and you can put in more memory.
DO NOT BUY THIS is you plan on using Napster, Itunes, etc........2007-12-26
When you purchase an "MP3" player these days, you're actually expecting to be able to play not only MP3 files, but MP4 files, WMV files, and so forth. This device, however, only actually plays MP3 files, which is noted in very small print in the instruction manual. Music download sites like Napster & Real Rhapsody use WMV format. You can get MP4 through Itunes, but not MP3s. So that means you cannot download ANY music from the big music download sites onto a Shaker. MP3 is now an "old" format. Unless you're planning only on ripping songs from a CD to put on the Shaker, DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! I got this for my son for Christmas & am very disappointed that I cannot download any of his favorite songs onto it. The product description needs to be much clearer about the severe limitations of the product.
Taking it back..........2007-12-26
I gave this Sansa Shaker to my 6.5 year old daughter for Christmas today. Tomorrow I am taking it back and getting her a different one. The idea behind this product is great. Perfect for young children around 6-10 years old, sounds pretty good, downloading songs was a breeze, it has an external speaker which is nice and the ability to have 2 headsets plugged into it at once is really great. The problem with it, (and I consider it a big one and the reason why it is going back), is the design. If you look at it in the photo's, you will see the bottom most white stripe. This stripe is used to forward and reverse through songs by way of twisting forward and back. The sliver of pink below that actually screws on and off to reveal the battery compartment and memory card slot. The pink sliver screws on and off with less then one quarter of a turn, therefore, when you are advancing through music you are unscrewing the cap. I have a feeling that SanDisk knew this was a problem because the cap is secured with string. So, my daughter walked around all day today with the cap dangling from the unit. I would highly recommend to those thinking of buying this to reconsider and research other MP3 players.
Go with an I-Pod.......2007-12-25
Very frustrating. I been working with this shaker for over an hour. It loads the music fine, but will say Uh-oh when trying to play. I have changed formats and nothing is working. A big waste of $30 + shipping times two. Both of my daughters are very dissapointed. I will be getting them I-Pods and sending these back to Amazon. This little "gem" had very few instructions and the CD that came with it didn't have much more information. I'd like to think I'm pretty well versed with a computer and couldn't crack the code on the shaker. Good luck to the 8 year olds out there- maybe they will have better luck.
Absolutely Frustrating.......2007-12-25
I bought these for my twin six year old sons and I'm returning them. You need to twist the bottom to change songs and it's right next to the battery compartment which twists the same way. What genius thought of this design?! A simple lock on the battery lid would have done the job. Instead it falls open all the time and my boys (and I) get so frustrated. Did Sansa even test this product?!

Good, but display a little odd.......2007-12-17
I bought this clock a few months ago. I really like the dual alarm, how the alarms are set (with knobs instead of holding slippery buttons), and the ease of seeing what time the alarm is set for. I bought it to replace a 15 yr old Dream Machine that still worked fine, but had an annoying hum. The only downside is the display is really bright, so if you like a totally dark room, this would not be for you. Also, the numbers can be hard to read in the dark if you're not viewing the clock from a perfect angle. There are low/high brightness settings, but they both have their drawbacks. The radio is fine, nothing special. Overall I like it, and am glad to be rid of that humming!
some "improvements" aren't improvements.......2007-11-14
Bought this clock to replace an old, well-loved Sony Dream Machine. The supposed innovation here? The time is set at the factory and kept by an internal battery; the owner chooses his/her time zone and voila! Only problem: Should the backup battery die before purchase, as mine did, there's no way to set the time, even if one replaces the battery. In this event, one is to take the clock "to a Sony dealer"! I'm sending mine back to Amazon. Personally, I never found setting a clock all that onerous.
Cute little alarm.......2007-11-01
Four alarm feature is nice (can use 2 at a time).
Lots of one touch buttons for everything.
Living in the city, the warm glow of the light does not compete with lights from the window, though I do make it face away from bed.
Auto time thing did not work for me, though setting time was easy.
I am confused why the DST button is there in the first place. I would just set the time myself; it only happens twice a year after all.
Verdict: I like it.
Even a 6 year old can use it..........2007-11-01
I bought this clock for my 6 year old daughter because she's now at that age where she wants more independence. This includes waking up by herself in the morning. This clock is easy to use, and after showing her how to use it just once, she can set the alarm for during the week and turn it off on the weekend. She loves the radio sleep function, and can set that herself as well. She's allowed 20 minutes of radio time to fall asleep to. She loves the glowing face, for the extra light, and the large numbers now that she knows how to tell time. It definitely makes bed time more fun.
Best buy for the buck........2007-10-31
This alarm clock is a great buy for the price. First of all it's very easy to use. It actually has 4 alarm settings not just the dual it talks about. The other two setting are programmed in weekend mode so you don't have to touch the dual settings during the weekday. The display is clear and the radio is loud and clear. You can set the snooze from 10 minutes to 60 (10 minutes between every press of the botton), depending on how many times you press it. I would recommend this item for anyone that has more than 2 settings.
