Good product, lousy support from Sennheiser.......2006-08-12
When my phones arrived I had trouble getting the batteries to take a charge. After studying the manual and trying every fix I could think of, I gave up and emailed Amazon which immediately sent me a replacement set via 2-day delivery, with a post-paid label so I could return the old set at no charge (I give Amazon high marks for customer service).
The new set also had me worried for a while--I had to leave the batteries on charge for more than 24 hours, but now everything is working fine. The sound quality is excellent whether connected to CD player, radio, TV, or DVD.
Don't bet the farm on the "100 meter range" spec, however. Mine will pick up the transmitter at 250 feet line-of-sight, but any intervening object, especially metal, cuts that way down.
I enjoy classical music and opera, and now that my hearing is not as good as it once was a good pair of phones makes a wonderful difference. The RS 140 has a "Dynamic Compression" feature which mutes loud sounds and boosts the volume of soft ones. I find it is scarcely noticeable when listening to music, but it makes speech more intelligable, especially on TV. If you don't need the feature you can turn it off--but in that case, you should probably buy the RS 130 which is identical to the RS 140, but lacks dynamic compression and costs less.
One last comment about Sennheiser customer support: their Web site has a "contact us" section inviting users to ask technical questions. While I was having trouble I sent them a detailed description, asking for advice. They replied with a boiler plate email and copy of the FAQ from their website. Though I like the product, Sennheiser's "technical support" is lousy.
Here's one question I have not been unable to resolve: polarity considerations tell me there must be a right and wrong way put the phones on the cradle to recharge, though the manual says nothing about it. My advice: face the transmitter lights and position the phones so the the word "Sennheiser" is erect.

RECENTLY I PURCHASED A BOAT AND REPLACED THE EXISTING FISHFINDER WITH THE GARMIN GPSMAP 440S. THIS PRODUCT HAS SURPASSED MY EXPECTATIONS. THE INSTRUCTIONS WERE VERY EASY TO FOLLOW AND INSTALLATION WENT VERY SMOOTHLY. THE SCREEN IS CLEAR EASY TO READ EVEN ON A BRIGHT SUNNY DAY. THE FISHFINDER WORKS GREAT AND GETS MY 10YR EXCITED EVERYTIME A FISH POPS UP ON THE SCREEN. VERY PLEASED WITH THIS PRODUCT!
