With the Wireless-G Music Bridge, you can send whatever music your PC is playing--whether it's from media players, games, Internet radio, or MP3 files--through your home network and to your stereo system. If you're running a wireless (802.11b and 802.11g) network, the Music Bridge will send your music to your stereo with no need for any additional cables. Simply connect the Wireless-G Music Bridge to your entertainment system via the included RCA cable, and you'll be ready to start cranking the tunes. Alternately, you can also use standard 10/100 Ethernet cabling to connect to your network.
If you have a 5.1-channel surround sound system, the Wireless-G Music Bridge includes software that creates a virtual 5.1-channel sound in your PC, so that you can take full advantage of your stereo system. The Wireless-G Music Bridge also lets you choose what audio from your PC you want to play over your audio system. For example, you can choose to send music but not email alerts or other PC tones. Or you may want to keep the alert tones streaming. It's entirely up to you.
An easy-to-use setup wizard will guide you through the configuration so that you can be up and running in no time. The Wireless-G Music Bridge supports 128-bit WEP encryption to ensure a secure connection and is compatible with wireless 802.11b and 802.11g standards.

Setup Is a little difficult.......2007-12-31
You better know some network basics to install it. Learn about DHCP, SSID, WEP and WPA before installing it. It's easier to use the browser for setup, do not use the program that comes in the box for setup. Once you have configured it just run the application, you can download the latest from www.linksys.com Also cmflywav.exe will give problems sometimes just stop it using "task manager" and start it again. Once you know how to control it, it sounds beautifully when connected to a good stereo receiver and powerful speakers.
Nice Way To Hear MP3 Throughout The House.......2007-12-30
Linksys Wireless-G Music Bridge is so nice that I purchased a second one about 2 weeks after the first one. The home router does a good job in directing mp3 streams to the appropriate music bridge, and the family benefits from individual selections of our centralized music library, even while we are active on the internet. However, there are some cutouts that occur while the router is busy with some other heavy demand processes, or when the host computer has a relatively heavy task to perform. Personally, I would love the music bridge to come with buiit in receiver components so that the bridge could simply connect directly to speakers, instead of having to wire to a receiver that then connects to the speakers. But hey, the price isn't bad, and the benefits are far greater than a couple of little things I think could improve the product.

I purchased this item and was looking at all of the negative reviews. I was expecting the worst. I have a Trendnet TEW432BRP router. Other reviewers said the setup was flawed. They also said it will not configure with any other router than a Linksys. Surprisingly for me that was not true. It worked right away. First, go to linksys's website and download the latest version of the utility. One thing I did do was when it asked to connect the WMB54G to your computer via ethernet I plugged it into my router instead and it worked great! I plugged the WMB54G into my stereo via RCA Cables. It played at a very low volume. Then I found out that the stereo was on output instead of input. It has not buffered at all. I still have to play with the equalizer. Highly Recommended!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
just what I needed.......2007-12-28
I was frightened by the reviews which pointed out the difficulty in setting up the Bridge. But to my pleasant surprise, I found installation an absolute breeze. The Bridge was up and running in less than 30 minutes. The Quick Start instructions were simple enough and the installation process went smoothly. I did not need anything other than the Quick Start guide. It is happily broadcasting my iTunes playlists as I type this. There has not been any signal interruption and the sound quality is excellent. If you are comfortable with home wireless networking, this should not be difficult, especially if your router broadcasts it's SSID. I believe my setup is fairly typical - I have a Linkys wireless G router using WPA security. During the installation process you first connect the Bridge to your PC using an Ethernet cord so that you can configure the Bridge to connect to your wireless network. Since my router broadcasts the SSID, the Bridge automactially found my network, I specified my WPA password and that was basically it. I then disconnected it from my PC, plugged my PC back into the network, and carried the Bridge upstairs and connected it to the stereo using the optical connection. Since the PC is downstairs, I use Windows Remote Desktop to log into it from my laptop and manage iTunes or whatever else I want to listen to remotely as I sit in front of the stereo. I love this device, my only complaint is that I did not learn about it sooner.

I've seen some negative reviews of this device, but I have to say that I love it!
Most of the compaints that I've read center around difficult setup and configuration. It took me 10 minutes to unbox it, hook it up, configure it, and start using it. The process is to pop in the CD with the configuration wizard, then plug the Music Bridge directly into your wired network with the included cable. The wizard finds the device, finds your wireless network, and asks you to load the device with the necessary password, etc. Then you unplug it from your network, and plug it into your stereo. That's it.
When you want to send music to the Music Bridge, you click on an icon in the system tray and select the Music Bridge as the destination for sound output. I've seen some reviews complaining that you have to do this step, but what are they looking for? How is the computer supposed to read your mind and know if you want to send music to the Bridge or to your system speakers? It's no big deal.
The sound quality is fantastic. The system tray application includes a graphic equalizer with a bunch of presets, and the ability to do your own custom settings.
I'd recommend this product to anyone.
