PNY's Customer Service is non-existent........2005-03-07
I bought a flash drive pen product from PNY August 2004. It worked fine for a about 6 months then the drive fried and I lost everything on it. The pen portion had a 30 day warranty and the drive has a one year warranty. I checked out PNY's website, they sent me a RMA return form, label, etc... with instructions to send the "defective" part, and a copy of the invoice, so I sent them exactly what they asked for. They returned the item back to me stating that I hadn't sent the entire item[without contacting me even though I gave them 3 phone numbers]. I'd just sent the drive, not the pen portion [since that was a separate warranty item and they only stated to send the defective part]. So, I resent it and included the pen portion [postage twice now, return receipt as they recommend, of about $10]. I have now received an email stating they are sending it back "again" not stating why in the email, but that an explanation will be provided with the product return. No telephone numbers have been included in anything for me to talk to a live person. What a run around.
My advice is: Do NOT buy a PNY product unless you think it will make it through the warranty period and you won't ever need customer service. There are plenty of manufacturers with better product AND good customer service.

I received it within 24 hours of my purchase and appreciate for quick free shipment from amazon. However, when I installed it into the PC that stopped working right now, I did not see anything on the monitor. I had previous memory installation experience and it was easy. The memory was in the right place with the tabs/nothces were put together so it was placed correctly. I rebooted the PC but nothing happened. I tried 3 times without any success. At that time, I had noticed that that memory stick was very hot. Then I called to PNY tech support # provided on the package and that person told me that that memory I received from amazon was defective and return to amazon. It was OK to return the item but I could not reboot my PC. He told me to removed the battery from PC and unplugged it for 2+ hours to reset it. I waited 3 hours and put everything back and turn it on. Nothing happened. I called again to PNY tech support and waited 45min and they suddenly cut the line. I tried again and waited another 45 min and they cut the line again (I heard the ringing tone, then suddenly the line was cut off -- twice!!). I cannot wait another hour to be cut off again. It seemed like they are avoiding my call and they already knew that new PNY memory caused my other memory sticked burned. I saw little burned on (gold edges of the sticks) both my old memory stick and new PNY I purchased from amazon. My PC was not only unimproved with this new PNY memory, but I also lost my existing good memory stick (125MB). This meory stick is pretty expensive and I chose brand name expecting for better quality as well as improvement for my PC but now, I even lost my good one and cannot use my PC. You can't tell any difference for this PNY stick until you actually installed into your PC. Don't buy PNY for their quality uncontrolled and poor thech support. The automated voice will tell you check the problems in their website. How one can check when the PC was not working?? You have to wait hours to pass automated voices to get live support and wait more hours to get the live person if you're lucky. They don't hesitate to cut off your line anytime. Amazon should have negative stars and this PNY deserves neg stars.
Update: my PC is not working anymore and not repairable. PNY tech support supervisor told me he had to deal with a couple of similar problems per month (imagine how many people suffer the same problem with PNY's defective items) and nobody got compensation according to PNY policy. Never buy PNY products!!

Better this 15" Best Monitor than any 17" so-so monitor..........2003-12-25
It doesn't get any better than this - this 15" is the best that the industry has to offer. Period.
The price is going up well before December/03 due to the competition with 15" TV's, where the profit is so much better at a retail price of $700+ on a 15" TV. As of 12/20 I paid $382 plus $30 to get this 15" LCD monitor to me by Christmas Eve. As it stands before me, I can tell you that it's well worth it.
My NEC 1560M-BK has no - I repeat - NO DEAD PIXELS - when other manufacturers are willing to let you suffer through up to 8 dead pixels. Even one dead pixel - particularly dead center on your screen - is enough to drive you nuts. A knat on your nose.
The "word" is that 15" LCD screens are at a premium right now, there are several manufacturers invested in new facilities that will be coming online in the summer of 2004. The price, at that time, will start to drop like a rock as there will actually be excess capacity. But that's the nature of computers, is it not? You're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't. Can you wait?
So get youself one of these NEC LCD1560M-BK's, you'll be happy. But just try to find one. Rottsa Ruck.
To repeat:
1) This is very best 15" monitor that you'll find. Seriously and Period. No dead pixels. Bright. Contrasty (you'll actually have to tone it down from its presets, if you turn 180 degrees away from it you'll actually see your skeleton projected on the wall behind you).
2) You'll not find it.
3) It's better than nearly all 17" LCD monitors. Beware of any manufacturer's LCD specifications, they tend to, ahem, lie. Do your research, third party opinions might be the best. PCWorld might be a good place to start. They don't care for what's-his-name anyway.
4) You'll not find it.

Bright - Excellent Contrast - Built in Speakers.......2003-07-11
Excellent Monitor, Brighter and with higher contrast than my old Dell Screen. Its size is just right for a cramped desk. I looked at several other models before deciding on this one based on its rating in PC World (#1 for 15" Monitors) and its higher contrast levels and brigtness as compared to the competition (and a NEC model without the built in Speakers). It arrived in just one day - despite my choice of free shipping - and the screen is just fabulous. Plus it comes with a 3 year warranty and had no - nada - none - dead pixels.
A most excellent flat screen monitor.
