Purchased these because I was looking for ear buds with an in-line volume control. The price indicated they would be of moderate quality which is good enough for me. The small case for the earbuds was also a nice feature and the design of the buds was above average.
BUT Maxell missed the sound quality completely. These are the worst quality ear buds/head phones I have ever listened to. It sounds like the music is coming through a string and two cans.
Even a $3.99 of off brand ear buds are much better than these.

Instead of just griping about the Maxell ear buds' deplorable sound quality, permit me to recommend a superior alternative.
"Customers who viewed this" set of Maxell ear buds would be better off listening to music/podcasts by pressing a stethoscope (check this website for availability) against the outside of any mp3 player.

Attaching the GPS unit to this vent mount instead of using the suction mount that comes with the GPS has the advantage that you can take the whole thing off and put it into the glove compartment, without any visible sign of a GPS in your car. That's a great help to prevent break-ins because thieves nowadays look for traces of suction mounts or empty GPS cradles and will smash the window to check.
The vent mount requires some fiddling to get it on and off the vent, though. You have to press the clamps together with force and wiggle the mount back-and-forth to slide it over the hump. Once attached, it is reasonably stable, even on bumpy roads.
