Nvidia's TurboCache feature increases the performance of this thin and light notebook PC without increasing its size or draining its battery. Networking, Connectivity & Expansion
The Intel PRO wireless LAN 3945ABG provides a tri-mode network connection (supporting 802.11a/b/g), with throughput up to 54 Mbps at 5 GHz (802.11a) and 2.4 GHz (802.11g). Customer Reviews:

    5 out of 5 stars Good laptop.......2007-08-24

I like this laptop. I had a toshiba satellite laptop before that. I am not going to go into great details about the specifications (like huge disk space, memory etc.) which are already bonuses. My laptop came with Windows Vista Premium.

    Pros:

    1. Fast most of the time. I have antivirus, antispyware, etc. running in the background, and my laptop rarely freezes.

    2. Good for playing games - good graphics, games run smoothly. That's because of the graphic card and 2GB memory. Games I've played satisfactorily are Doom 3, Fifa 07, Splinter Cell 1 and 2, Command and conquer Generals & Zero Hour, Monkey Island 3. Please note that not all games work under Vista.

    3. Sound is good. Speakers located near the base of the screen.

    4. Many expansion ports, including one for SD drive (which reads SD HC memory card by the way). Good if you have a device that stores/reads info from one, like a PDA or a digital camera.

    5. Great image from screen + high resolution. But I wouldn't call the screen stunning. My toshiba laptop had an antireflective layer coated on the screen which decreased the amount of background light reflected back to the viewer, and the resulting image was really wonderful to watch. Dell laptops also have this feature. However, the other good features of this laptop compensate for the lower performance of the screen - which is still good.

    6. Keyboard layout is ok. Has 2 Ctrl and 2 Alt keys, in contrast to many laptops keyboards I know. This increases the resemblance of this keyboard to that a normal one (except for the absence of the numeric keypad).

    7. Hot keys for play/pause, stop, next, previous, volume, mute etc. are activated by touching them, not pressing them. That's cool (it's like using a touch screen).

    8. Laptop + charger are fairly light and easy to carry around.

    Cons:

    1. Noisy DVD drive during the read/write process, but I know few laptop or computer with a quiet one. (my old toshiba laptop had an acoustic silencer which reduced the noise made by the drive when I was listening to an audio cd or watching a DVD).

    2. Noisy hard disk or processor (that's what the reviewer below was complaining). At the price of the laptop, you would have hoped that this sound would not exist at all. FYI, when you use this laptop, you'll hear a high-pitched buzzin/screeching/whining sound coming above the ZXCASD keys ('coz that's where the hard disk or processor is found). This sound is more noticeable when you are in your room than when you are in the showroom where you bought your computer. Read on.

    NOTES:

    1. The buzzing noise described above is not a malfunction (or is it?). I've heard IBM thinkpads, or some of them, also have this problem. This noise is a consequence of the CPU C4 function, more about which can be learned from the Intel web site. To get rid of it (at least in order not to hear it unless you are sticking your ears above the hard disk or processor),

    a) reboot your computer.
    b) press F10 to enter the boot setup menu.
    c) go to systems configurations.
    d) Disable the CPU C4 function.
    e) Save and exit.

That should do the trick. The only drawback I've learned about disabling the C4 function is a faster drainage of battery power (not by much I think) which is, in my opinion, a good compromise for not hearing that annoying sound. This laptop is really a good one and it'll be a shame to let the buzzing noise which you can eliminate affect your decision of whenther to buy it or not.

    2. To switch off the button sounds that you hear when your press the hot keys (pause/play, mute, volume +/- etc), follow steps a), b), c) above and then disable the button keys (and save and exit). You can't disable the button keys from Windows itself.

    3. Normally, when you insert an SD card in an SD drive (e.g. in a digital camera), you push the card gently into the drive until it locks into place . To remove the card, you push it slightly - this unlocks the card, and the card is slightly propelled towards you, hence enabling its easy removal.

The SD drive of my laptop doesn't work that way. It doesn't have the locking/unlocking mechanism described above. I have to push my SD card until it is in place, and to remove it, I have to PULL it. I've noticed scratches on the golden plates of my card.

Can someone please tell me if this is due to my SD drive being faulty, or if this is the same for all HP dv6275 laptop?

2 out of 5 stars I'd look around for another laptop.......2007-05-07

After reading all the good reviews and checking out my friends' older hp pavilions, I decided to buy this laptop. Considering this is HP's top of the line model, I am very disappointed. HP should not ship this out w/Vista knowing there are driver issues that have not been resolved yet & also knowing that there is annoying high pitch mosquito sound coming from the laptop, which is especially LOUD when not plugged into the AC adaptor. I've been told the sound is a result of the dual processor going into battery saving mode. For this price, I would go for a Macbook, or a cheaper PC laptop without Vista or noise issues. I'm still giving this laptop a 2 star because it has a very nice sleek design & it runs pretty fast.

    5 out of 5 stars goodddddddddddddd.......2007-04-24

Everything is perfect, the computer is wonderfull and very fast. The Hardware can be compare with a Mac, but the software (vista) it isn't any close to Mac OSX.

5 out of 5 stars HP Pavilion DV6275US 15.4" Entertainment Notebook PC (Intel Core 2 Duo Processor T5600, 2 GB RAM, 160 GB Hard Drive, SuperMulti .......2007-04-03

This is a great computer and performs very well. Works well with the new vista system and Microsoft Business Office 2007.

5 out of 5 stars An awesome notebook, do yourself a favor, take a look!.......2007-03-31

My 2nd Dell notebook (Inspiron 8600) was a big letdown for me (was going to buy a HP prior to buying my 2nd Dell) and saw the HP dv6000t series in Laptop Magazine as one of the "Best of the Best" and let me assure you it is awesome (brought the dv6275t)! Nearly flawless from finish to performance, I only have two minor gripes, USB connections is on the side instead of the PC's rear (a personal gripe) and it has Window's Vista installed, its not bad, just weird getting used to! Otherwise, I highly suggest you take a look at this PC, its fast the WXGA screen looks great.
