Great Mouse~! Almost Perfect!.......2007-11-08
This is a great product. This being the section for product review, and not customer service review, it deserves nothing less then 4 stars. I have used this mouse for 2-3 years now, and it's a perfect replacement for a desk mouse. Pair this up with a wireless mouse, an LCD on the wall, perfect set up. The extra buttons and the "shake" controls I haven't found particularly useful, but all the basic stuff are top notched. The ergo of the mouse is great, feels very, very comfortable with it's light weight. This mouse in the air feels more comfortable then any mouse I've ever used on the desk, period. Solid as brick, since I've dropped it more then a few times on hardwood floor. Precision isn't this mouse's priority, but with that said, it shouldn't dissapoint too much. I'm happy to say that after an initial break-in time of getting used to the mouse, I'm as precise in any first person shooter as I am with a desk mouse. Games aside, I wouldn't trust it entirely for something like Photoshop editing.
My Gyration just broke, so I'm back in the market for a new mouse. The new "remote" Gyration hasn't got any good review, and I'm afraid without a trigger, the Logitech MX Air is even less precise then the Gyration's offering. And since both of these are TV Remote first, mouse second, they really aren't a chioce for me. I will buy this mouse again, until a better Gyration or Logitech offering pops up.
trigger gyro mouse.......2007-08-05
I have an Iomega trigger mouse that the trigger is a right click and it has the track ball that is thumb operated but it has 2 AAA batteries, if the lazer pointer button accidentally gets pushed in storage the batteries get killed. The Ultra has a rechargeable power but the trigger is to activate the positioning of the pointer only. You have to click with your thumb. It operates fine.

I got a Gyration Ultra for the in-air control feature. I thought I would use that feature a lot for my computer. Especially for gaming. This product is not very good for gaming. Believe me; if you are going to play a first person shooter game with this mouse, you are not going to do well. It's a mouse you may have to practice using. I had this mouse for about two months before the "rechargeable - never buy batteries" battery went bad. After the battery died, I got a different brand of mouse I like better. Now I have a projector that I think my Gyration Ultra mouse would be great for but now I have to go hunting on the web for a replacement battery for it. I wanted a new rechargeable battery like the one the mouse originally came with. It should charge fine in the mouse holder. If you don't know about this mouse, it can take a rechargeable battery specially designed just for this mouse. The battery is molded into part on the design of the mouse and to me, that's NOT a good thing. Why is it designed like this? I think it just makes this battery more expensive to replace and harder to find. After ordering a new battery for almost thirty dollars, I'm hoping it's just the battery that's the problem with this. The reason I gave the Gyration Ultra mouse one star is because of the battery and because if I really think about it, I don't really need this mouse. I could use a regular wireless optical mouse, like I have been doing, that is less expensive and can take regular batteries. Maybe you can too. Other wise I give this mouse four stars just for its novelty and the fun of using it.

Bought this to control a computer hooked up to my TV. I'm sitting about ten feet away.
The Air Mouse is erratic and maddening to try to use, whether it is in the air or on a mouse pad. It will freeze, be unresponsive, then move erratically...almost impossible to control. It will make you crazy, and not the good kind.
The keyboard works better, but I just got finished getting an RMA to return mine because it wouldn't sync back up after I changed the batteries. When I get the replacement for this pile of junk, I am going to get whatever I can for it on ebay and then buy something different.
Range is not the reason I'm having a problem...I actually bought a 10 foot USB extension to get the little receiver closer to me and that didn't make any difference. Think they'll reimburse me for that?
How can these people, in good conscience, sell stuff like this that doesn't work? Stick with Microsoft and Logitech in the mouse and keyboard department.

Don't expect this to substitute for one you may already have. You will have to change the usb receiver as well. I really wanted a battery, unable to find, ordered another..expensive battery.

Im currently using this mouse as a media center. So I cant comment to the gentleman's battery problems as I always put mine back on the cradle, because its like a wireless device with a battery that drains.
The mouse itself functions well. It takes getting used to because you DONT have to point at the screen. All the movements are relative to the mouse, not the receiver. I like the button setup, they are easy to get to and it doesnt seem to jitter as much as the wiiMote. All in all, im happy I bought this mouse, I may even try it out on some games.
Some of the con include getting used to it :) Also, the laser mouse in the base of it can sometimes throw off the movement. For the most part its a non issue.
BTW, im using this with Kubuntu and it was plug and play. haven't tried it on my windows system yet.
Battery is worthless ( DOA) and not under warranty.......2007-01-27
My battery will not hold a charge. It last about 1 to 2 hours then I have to put it back on the charger. I called technical support. They said they could not help. When I asked for a manager they asked me to call customer care. So I called customer care. They said that batteries are not under warranty. I'm still looking for that fine print. Well I've never worked with a company that would not stand behind their product. So I decided to update as many forums as I can to warn people to stay away from Gyration products made by Thompson. Do you want to be the next sucker with a dead mouse?

I love this mouse. I hate being hunched over a keyboard and I enjoy laying back and using a wireless mouse to control the media functions of my PC. It takes a few tries to get used to the wrist movements, but now it's just as natural as using an old-fashioned mouse.

This product doesn't even rate ONE star.
I purchased this product for our Boardroom. The price threw me but, our CEO and top management get presentations in that boardroom from VIPs around the world.
So imagine my suprise, when the cursor dropped down to the bottom of the screen and would not rise back up until putting the mouse down on the table again.
Tech supports big solution: REBOOT the PC.
For the same $$$$$, you can buy 3 Logitech mice and throw 2 away because they just plain work.

This mouse is GREAT! We have had it for over a year now and have had absolutely NO PROBLEMS what-so-ever. Super simple to use - even the kids learned how without instructions. (Just have to make sure they return it to the charging cradle.)~:o) The "freedom" of this Gyration mouse is more than wonderful. To be able to sit back in your chair and scroll through web pages is worth alot - especially to your back! I'm getting one for my dad, too.
I HIGHLY recommend this mouse to anyone & everyone! A+++
STAY AWAY FROM THISPRODUCT.......2003-12-02
This product will work great for about three weeks. Then all hell breaks lose. You will need to change the channel more than often. Then, the keyboard will lose communication with the base station and for ever. Tech-support is stinky and worthless. By the time you find out about the product, you already lost your retailer return grace period, and you are left alone with some helpless pathetic tech and sales people. Stay clear from this product and save your money. This is my second system in two months from two different stores and they failed exactly the same way on time and to the minute. I had to put one star because there are no ZEROS. THIS PROUCT IS A SCAM

A mouse without a mousepad? This cool Gyration mouse can be used in the air! Just move it around in the air and click on whatever you want. Perfect for carpal tunnel users!
Charge the mouse up, and then simply use it. There's no 'learning' mode necessary. You pick up the mouse and wave it around. Gyroscopes within the mouse track where you are pointing and move the mouse on the screen accordingly.
Click to click, hold down a button to point somewhere else. It's very straightforward and also very relaxing. Instead of leaning forward and putting pressure on your wrist to do any mouse movements, you just lean back in your chair and rest your arm whereever you want.
If you're doing something keyboard intensive, the mouse does work fine on the table too - so you don't lose normal mouse functionality. But if you are doing something that just requires a mouse - surfing the web, paging through an ebook or making a presentation - it's easy to lean back, wander around, put your feet up. The mouse works wonderfully from any location. It works on radio waves so you don't have to be "pointing at" the receiver.
Highly recommended for those who do a lot of mouse-only surfing or computer work, and also great for presentations.

ok for OTA but miss QAM.......2007-12-25
I have used this one for a while (a year).
Its analog TV is quite good. but analog TV is phrasing out so it's NOT the card's main feature.
I rarely use its HDTV feature because three major reasons (drawback):
1. the card gets frozen so often. need to reset many times if you watch HDTV while use your PC at the same time, which is common for normal PC users. the software is too buggy, as many users complained.
2. No QAM receiver. the OTA signals at my home location are NOT very strong. I am comcast cable user. But this card won't take the QAM signal. I couldn't get what I want (OTA). and I couldn't use what I have (QAM). what a pity.
3. the DTV is displayed on PRIMARY monitor only. I am using dual-monitor (two Dell 1905FP). the ATI card has no problem to display analog TV on either monitor but play DTV on PRIMARY only. I wish it could use the secondary monitor so that I could use primary monitor for my PC work.

The crad itself is great. I pick up all my local DTV/HDTV channels with no issues. The problem is the horrible software. It doens't even support titanTV! ATI has been knwon for poor drivers and applications. This hasn't changed. Steer clear of this steaming pile. Better yet stay away form ATI TV Tuner cards in general. My old card allowed me to use whatever codecs I have installed on my system. I bought DivX Pro and the sorftware for this card doens't recognise the DivX codec. I have sence thrown this thing away.
Works great with Windows Media Center, but..........2007-09-10
If you have Windows Media Center and an analog tuner, then ADD the HDTV wonder to your existing setup. You must have an analog tuner card installed for Media Center to use this card. Use the analog card for cable/satellite. Use the HDTV Wonder with an outdoor antenna for broadcasted digital channels. I agree with everyone here. The bundled software is JUNK, but if you are fortunate to have the above setup like I do, then it works really well.

The item is not suppurted by manufacturor. the old software works however trying to upgrade to new soft ware locks machine. i will never buy ati or amd hardware again.

The HD-TV card works great, the software will leave you wanting a little more. It pulls in over 16 channels where I live. All for free, and all in stunning HD quality!
