It works as advertised. I haven't noticed any problems running it on my Linux system even though it lists only Microsoft compatibility, but I haven't tried the multimedia keys yet. There are just a few minor issues that keep me from giving it the full five stars. As others have mentioned, it doesn't remember what color you set it on when you reboot. The wrist support feels flimsy and doesn't really do anything. And the last, biggest, complaint I have is that it only works through a USB port. My last keyboard was also USB, but it would work through an adapter in the standard keyboard jack on the back. I have limited USB ports, and they're all on the front of the case, so I have to run the cable to the front instead of being able to hide it behind the machine.

previously owned a saitek eclipse 1 and i liked it so much i decided to get a eclipse 2 and am very satisfied with it! i like how you can change the color with the press of a button. would recommend it to anyone even if your not a gamer.
Excellent keyboard.......2007-12-26
I got this keyboard for my boyfriend for Christmas and he absolutely loves it. It is a quality keyboard and the backlight feature is awesome. I would say the only downside is the red backlight, which neither of us like. It's alright though, because there is still blue and purple!

I read plenty of reviews on this keyboard before buying it fo my husband. Although many of them were not all that great I chose to go ahead with the purchase anyway. I am thankful that I did!!
A few of the bad reviews said the keys were too "hard" and others said they were to "soft" of a touch, I beg to differ. The keys are absolutely perfect you do not need to apply too much pressure nor do they depress with only the lightest of touches.
Other reviews said it was hard to install. All I can say is those people must of been a little light in the head!! It was a breeze to install and use!!
There were also reviews complaining that the light was too bright. Those people need to go to their eye doctor as their eyes must be EXTREMELY sensitive to light. Our computer is in our bedroom and my husband tends to use it while I am trying to go to sleep. The light from the keyboard does not keep me awake at all. Not only that but my husband does have a sensitivity to light and he has left the keyboard light on all night long and still had no trouble getting to sleep.
Bottom line it is a great keyboard and I would recommend it to anyone.
Really Good Keyboard.......2007-12-25
The Saitek Eclipse II is exactly what I was looking for--smooth key action and backlighting thru the keys. I much prefer it to any keyboard I've used to date. For someone looking for a full sized, full function, back-lit keyboard, I highly recommend this one.
