Wireless headphones are popular among home-theater devotees who like to indulge in uninhibited late night movies, as well as music lovers who don't want to be tied down to their receivers or computers. Sennheiser is one of Germany's leading headphone manufacturers and a major proponent of wireless technology, so we couldn't wait to try its new-for-2005 model, the RS130.
The Sennheiser RS130s are very light, just 9.8 ounces, and we found them extremely comfortable over a long evening of watching DVDs. This set of Open-Air headphones comes with a stylish base station/charger that houses a 900MHz wireless transmitter. The newly revised system is fitted with Sennheiser's Intelligent Auto Tuning system, which automatically selects the best of three available base-to-headset channels to ensure the lowest-possible distortion and noise. To charge the headphones' two AAA nickel-metal-hydride batteries, just place the RS130s on the cradle of the transmitter base. Fully charged, the headphones will play for as long as 22 hours with built-in volume control. The base/charger can be mounted on the wall or placed near your components. All of the adapters and necessary cables are included for stereo output.
The RS130 also features Sennheiser's SRS Headphone virtual-surround-sound system. SRS is compatible with two-channel audio sources such as CDs and DVDs. SRS opened up the sound a bit so that it was less stuck inside the listener's head, but it also made the sound more echo and reverberant. Some people will like the effect, others won't. We didn't and opted to switch it off.

When the last set lost the sound, it would give static and try to find a signal - usually my neighbor's wireless phone if anything. This one gives three beeps and shuts off. Much better.

I bought two of these for the bedroom tv, based on positive reviews I read, and I couldn't be happier. Incredibly comfortable headphones, amazing sound, well worth the price. I positioned the base on top of the closet, so it's barely in line of sight, and they work great. Easy to set up, too. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Bought this product as a refurbished item at about $60. It works very good. When I received the product there weren't any instructions. I went to the manufactures website and got going in no time.
There can be certain head positions that you may get some interference, but 98% of the time it's no problem. I turn on my stereo and go in the other room with the headsets and listen to some great tunes.
It is not a noise cancelling headset, but works well when there are other distractions in the room and I'm trying to watch TV.

These headphones were purchased after cheking with consumer reports. I am so glad I checked. I almost settled for a less expensive item and would have been sorry. These headphones still allow ambient sounds to be heard while giving clear and concise sound. This has been a GREAT purchase! I recommend this product to anyone who is looking for headphones.

I have to admit I was a bit skeptical for a while about wireless headphones. I took the plunge and havent gone back. They have incredible range and sound quality. I rarely charge the batteries and the will last for about 2 weeks, depending on your use. They have an excellent fit and they aren't heavy one bit.

The Sennheiser headphones are terrific for what I use them for. I don't walk around the house with them or while I'm out gardening or anything that takes me beyond 25 feet of the transmitter. And for that reason they are great. I got an excellent deal because they were remanufactured and by openning an Amazon credit card account, I got a few more bucks shaved off. Before I purchased them, I read about some people having problems if they moved in a certain direction or if they were down the basement or some other silly thing but so far, so good. You may wonder why I use wireless headphones if I'm so close to my PC? Simple, I love the freedom of not being attached by a cord. This is a replacement for a wireless JVC set I had and got very comfortable using. If I do want complete independence I've got my MP3 player.

I bought this refurbished set of headphones for my husband for Christmas. They arrived right on schedule (way before Christmas), and were in good working order. It's been almost a month now, and I can say the sound is as crystal clear as any wired headset. It's a bit on the bulky side, so he got a few sniggers when he opened his present and put them on (they look like disco-era headphones), but he's all about practical, and doesn't care how things look as long as they work great. And they do. So if you're the highly self-concious type, these are not for you. However: even though they are bulky, they fit snugly around your head and are not heavy. I have a slightly smaller head and I have a lot of trouble finding headphones that fit me, and these don't slide around at all. Bulky, but they are very stable. My husband has a large head, and he also finds them comfortable enough to wear almost 8 hours a day at work. Oh, yeah, I almost forgot: they are the most comfortable headphones I've ever tried on, too.
I have to admit: I was a bit wary to buy a refurbished item online without trying it out first, but this was a great buy. The headphones work beautifully (see other reviews for better spec details: I haven't used them enough to know the nuances of what these babies can do), the sounds quality is amazing, and they are very comfy to wear for VERY extended periods of time.
I also really like the stand/charger/receiver idea. The three-in-one pyramid-looking stand keeps the headphones standing (so you don't leave them around to be stepped on), it also charges the unit (I was worried about mountains of used batteries, but no worries here), and also acts as the receiver. This also makes it so that it's NOT a good choice for those of you who want to use it to workout at the gym. You can't very well lug the receiver around with you.... But if you're working out at home, this is a great choice.
Just be sure this kind of headset is for you. If you like great quality sound, a comfortable fit and don't mind the look or the receiver type, this is a perfect choice for you.
