Bad quality headset.......2007-04-08
I got Steel Sound 5H as Christmas gift and three month later I'm ready to throw it away.
As previous person reported microphone produced poor sound from the beginning. While retractable microphone is a good idea, it tends to twist away from your mouth making things even worse. People preferred sound of a cheap microphone that came with my web cam to this one.
Headphones work OK, though sound isn't great. Plastic adjustment strap stopped latching in place so they do not keep my adjustments.
Overall it's a bad electrical and mechanical design.

I am a gamer, mostly CS. I have been through nearly a dozen headsets before I found and fell in love with the Steel H5's. I couldn't ask for anything more in a set, but the v2's are even better! I also listen to a lot of music, and these have a 5 star rating for that as well. Also, I'd like you to know that I have a sound blaster X-fi which helps for music and gaming immensly. But as long as you are listening with a quality sound card or amp, you will not be disappointed!
Love the retractable mic. If you're not gaming, just push it back in the headset! Also, the break-away cord has saved my set numerous times. Ever try to walk away from your computer with your headsed on? Not fun if there isn't a saftey measure like that... :D

I bought this headset a couple of weeks ago thinking it was the best gaming headset out there like steel series said. Here are the pros and the cons
Pros : Great headset if you get one of the few that aren't defective.
Cons : The problems that many have are -
-microphone doesn't work properly
-when you adjust the microphone volume it makes a LOUD screeching/buzzing noise (very annoying)
-if you have a big head like me it will hurt your ears after 10 minutes of use. Steel series said it fits 99% of people, I think thats crap.
-cheaply made
Overall : If I were you I would buy something else, like a sennheiser or something. Even my $[...] plantronics headset is better than this piece of junk.

over priced, cheap headphones.......2007-02-16
I play a couple online games and in doing so i like to have surround head phones. I came across these and were excited by the fact they are 7.1 channel, i have had 5.1 in the past and loved them. so i paid the extra price. they use a usb to connect and also have a built in soundcard that you can adjust. but when i got them i found they feel much more cheap they i had expected. and when i played my game 1. the usb/sound card file would sometimes pop up and shut down my game. 2. i would get a buzzing sound that was so bad i had to go back to my old headphones. 3. they dont offer that much comfort. long story short i sent them back and got a set of Turtle Beach 5.1's and love them. i will admit music sounded good on them, but not any better then any other set i have had. avoid these, there are much better, cheaper options.

These headphones deliver very nice 5.1 to your head.
But support is nonexistent. Instructions are "plug it in". I had problems with it from the start. No online support, no email address for support. Finally after a couple of months of experimenting I got it working OK. Some things still don't work. Like the built in software or the tray icon. But the sound is super. Wouldn't buy again. I'd try something else.

The SteelSound 5H USB headset is the best gaming headset I have ever used. The sound is crisp and perfectly clear which makes it amazing for online gaming. I recommend this headset to anyone who is serious about online gaming, especially in games like Counter-Strike.

These headphones sound great and allow me to hear footsteps in CSS pretty well. The only issue I have with them is the thin, cheap cable that runs from the headset to the PC. It becomes twisted very easily.

I just purchased this item. It claims that it was made for the 40 gb Ipod. It does fit on snug but the wheel does not line up well and you cannot charge with the case on. It is hard to get on and off so it is not a great case if you use you Ipod Alot
