Be warned!.......2007-10-16
We switched to Vonage to save money and it was the worst quality, customer service ever. All our calls would be dropped after 5 minutes and the second time I called to have it "fixed" they managed to do something that cause us to not be able to receive incoming calls for over 2 weeks. No refunds were offered and I am having to PAY THEM to cancel my service! Read the Better Business Bureau reports. If these reviews don't convince you that will. Just sorry I didn't check into the service more.

ANYONE TRYING TO CANCEL KNOWS THAT THAT ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT DEPT ARRANGES CANCELLATIONS BUT YOU HAVE TO GO TO CUSTOMER SERVICE TO GET TO THEM. WELL I HAVE A NUMBER FOR THAT DEPARTMENT 1-888-288-7435. THIS WILL NOT GET YOUR MONEY BACK, BUT IT WILL SAVE ABOUT 15 MINUTES OFF YOUR WAIT TIME.
The Worst Experience EVER.......2007-08-30
That one star is not deserved. It should be many stars in the negative. Good luck cancelling your service even after a year. They kept billing until I finally cancelled the card. No one should have to go through days and weeks on the phone just to cancel a service.
Frustrating Experience - Voice Quality, Reliability and Service.......2007-07-03
We wanted this to work very badly and stuck with it for a year hoping Vonage would improve their service. We tried Vonage with both Clearwire and Comcast and got the same results: poor voice quality and sporadic service that would stop working for days at a time. The forwarding feature works well but we had to upgrade our mobile minutes because the service was out so often. In the end the extra mobile minutes negated a big chunk of the potential savings and the hassle alone made us switch to mobile only.
The most frustrating experience was the customer service. When we decided to cancel the service it was virtually impossible to get in touch with customer service. They let you manage your account for everything other than cancellation through their website but require you speak with them on the phone in order to cancel. On the voice menu's they send you to a specific department for cancellations. I tried 6 times (different days and different times of day) and waited as long as 40 minutes on hold but wasn't able to get someone. I tried their sales line and was able to get through in under a minute. Unofrtunately, despite my begging and pleading all they could do was forward my call to the cancellation queue. At this point, cancelling my account has become something of a hobby.
Good product, terrible vonage service.......2007-05-30
Bought this product and am currently in the process of filing a BBB complaint because of the terrible choppy, echoing call quality. More often than not, the calls would be cut off halfway through. On top of the $29.99 fee I had to pay to set up the service, Vonage billed me a $39.99 disconnection fee. I had to discontinue their service because of the mental anguish I would suffer at the hands of their incompetent, non-english speaking support staff. They could neither understand me, nor could I understand them - partly due to the language barrier, but also because the phone connection was so terrible. I was spending an average of six hours per month on the phone with their customer support, finally decided that if I factored my hourly wage I would be way ahead to just pay some more money and end up with better service. I can not say enough terrible things about the company! As an interesting note, the Better Business Bureau has revoked their membership as of 05-27-07 due to over 4000!!!! unanswered complaints.
