My Maxtor 500 GB hard drive died after less than six months and now the company refuses to replace it because they say it is out of warranty.

Good Color (but only with Epson paper), Bad Performance.......2006-04-19
At the time I bought this printer for our daughter, it was rated highly as a photo printer.
She eventually replaced it, and gave it back to us, and we still use it extensively for photo printing.
I like the color, but it took a few prints to realize that it will not print on just any old paper. On some, the ink beaded up, and wouldn't soak into the paper. With Epson paper, the results were good. With generic photo paper or Kodak, they were unacceptable.
The truly annoying thing about this printer, however, is that the margins are never correct. It takes a lot of trial and error, and manual compensation to get the image centered on the paper. This also means that you can't print a picture as large as you otherwise would be able to on a given paper size.
It's enough to make me look for another printer. The Canon iP4200 seems to be a bargain right now.
