Amazon.com Product Description
Stylisly appointed for the most discriminating tastes, the 32-inch JVC LT32X887 LCD HDTV is a sound home theater investment for today and years to come. More than just a pretty face, it's loaded with the latest JVC video technology to ensure a long-lasting, brightly colorful picture. This set features JVC's 5th generation 770p DIST (Digital Image Scaling Technology) with the Genessa 32-bit image processing CPU, which insures faster and more efficient sampling that drastically reduces jagged edges and increases the resolution of any video source. The LT32X887 in a black cabinet; the LT32X787 offers the same size and specs, but it comes in a silver cabinet.
You'll enjoy 480p, 720p and 1080i high-definition viewing right out of the box thanks to the built-in digital ATSC tuner, which pulls HD signals right from the airwaves. You can also connect the set to an optional receiver or cable/satellite set-top box using either the dual HDMI or dual component connections. Its QAM tuner is fully compatible with unscrambled HDTV cable reception (via component or HDMI inputs), and it includes a standard analog NTSC tuner receives standard-definition (SD) programming.
This set features a 1366 x 768-pixel resolution, 16:9 aspect ratio, 178-degree viewing angle, 500 cd/m2 (candela per square meter) brightness rating, and 800:1 contrast ratio. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a TV's ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.)
The digital 3D Y/C comb filter (with vertical contour correction) separates brightness and color signals better in 3D domain to eliminate cross-color, cross-luminance and dot-crawl distortion. It performs field-by-field comparisons of the television image to accurately separate the color from the black-and-white information and remove both horizontally and vertically hanging dots, as well as dot crawl, resulting in a razor sharp image. And JVC's exclusive Motion Adaptive Dynamic Gamma Correction (DGC) utilizes data from every signal level to ensure that tonal gradations are preserved in dark areas so images never look muddied.
The Natural Cinema feature performs 3:2 pulldown detection and reversal, too--a handy feature for watching progressive-scan movie programs in their native 24-frame format. To adapt 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video, frames in the original movie must be duplicated; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this duplication by removing the redundant information to display a frame-accurate picture.
The set's Digital Super Detail (DSD) correction technology works with the Natural Progressive Circuitry to reproduce completely focused pictures, whether the image is still or highly active. A 5-point Color Management System (CMS) compensates for color range limitations and ensures JVC colors are reproduced with dimension and vivid detail. Other video processing and display features include digital video noise reduction, white character correction circuitry, five video status modes (theater, dynamic, game, standard, and TheaterPro D6500K), and seven aspect ratio modes with EZ Fill feature that enables you to choose the aspect ratio to suit your preferences. Other convenience features include a multi-function timer and standard sleep timer, 10-minute auto shut-off, front panel lock, high-speed channel changer, and V-Chip parental controls.
The built-in, front-firing speakers produce 10 watts of power per channel for 20 watts of total power, and it also offers virtual surround sound, advanced tone correction and a volume limiter. It offers the following connection options:
- Composite AV (RCA): 3 in
- S-Video: 2 in
- Component video: 2 in
- HDMI: 2 in
- PC VGA: 1 in
- RF: 2 in
- Audio output: 1 optical digital out, 1 headphone
Tech Talk
HDMI is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) with your TV--all over a single cable. It provides up to a 5 GB per second bandwidth for transmitting pure digital video and audio signals with no degradation in the transfer. It can carry up to eight discrete audio channels, making it compatible with 7.1-channel surround sound systems. Signals are encrypted with HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) to prevent recording. HDMI is fully backward-compatible with most DVI connections.
Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. You will need a separate RCA left/right audio cable for sound.

Beware..........2007-09-03
Check your return policy carefully -- you will want to avoid having to deal with the manufacturer's warranty at all costs. I have the larger model of this television. Though the picture quality is good, I have found it to be overshadowed by (in my opinion) very poor customer service at JVC. I quickly realized after purchase that my television was defective; six months later it is still defective, and JVC has been less than helpful in facilitating repairs.
Impressive!.......2007-03-31
I am impressed with many aspects of this JVC LCD TV. Out of the box, the sound was much better than I expected but I didn't need since I have an external sound system. Althoug, good enough for me to use it as a weak center channel when watching tv/movies. I previously owned a 42" plasma and this 32" lcd is very close comparably in picture quality. What you can expect from a brand name like JVC that stays out front.
Most Excellent! Why?Quality,Price and it has a HEADPHONE JACK for WIRELESS HEADPHONES!SWEET!.......2007-03-30
I agree with the other reviewer. There is A LOT of competition out there with their grubby hands out ready to grab YOUR hard earned cash and pawn off their trash.
JVC has been around for a LONG time. That is your first clue for looking for a good "tried and trusted company." Also looking at the TVS lined up together and stand back and compare the quality of the picture.
But ALSO LISTEN to the sets....and listen to them LOUD!
Another feature that is a MUST is a HEADPHONE JACK. One would think that would be a standard feature and not even think to ask or look for it. BUZZ! WRONG! I was amazed at how many popular brands DID NOT carry a headphone jack on their sets! In fact, JVC and Sony were the only two in this size at BestBuy that had them!
I am VERY HAPPY with this television! When it's time to buy a bigger set for my living room (this set is in my bedroom)...I will ONLY buy JVC.
Impressive LCD.......2006-10-03
There is so much competition today among LCD televisions that I'd forgotten JVC made them. I knew they had made TVs in the past, but when I hear the brand name JVC, I clearly think of home audio or car stereo equipment. When I was in the market to purchase the latest and greatest LCD technology, JVC was not even on the radar. I had looked at Samsung, Sharp, and a few other top brands. That all changed when I saw this JVC model on sale. I could have bought the 37" for a few hundred more, but I would've had to buy a new TV stand or entertainment center--which I did not want to do. The 32" model fit perfectly. I was blown away by the picture quality but impressed with the amazing sound it cranks out of its small speakers. At first I thought I would have to buy extra speakers, but hooked up to my digital cable box using coax high-end Monster cable, running in HD, I realized I didn't have to upgrade my speakers. The high-def signal is amazing, too. This is a great TV so far, and the easy to use features on the remote make it a great investment. I highly recommend JVC! The other brands offer similar features, but JVC has really impressed me by its simplicity and the its overall quality.

Ok, if you live nowhere........2007-12-17
I'm sure this item works fine. IF and only if you live in an unpopulated area. Unfortunately for my hopes of using this, I live in New York City. While there are completely empty stations on the FM dials, unless you're leaning the PodFreq against the antenna, 'bleed over' from other stations interferes in its use.
If you're planning on using this in your car, as I was, save the money and invest in a direct line-in to your car stereo.

Problems with the Sonnet PodFreq..........2006-04-29
Initially I was very satisfied with the PodFreq, but over the course of a couple of months it slowly died. In fact when I first bought it, it definitely met all of my needs. It was the only FM transmitter that was powerful enough to work over many of the radio stations that had given me problems in the past. But that soon changed. Now it won't even work on a station that is clear. This is very disappointing because I payed triple what I have spent on other FM transmitters. I am in the process of returning it for a replacement or repair. I doubt, from reading the reviews here, that this will help. I have to give it try though. Very disappointing
Mine has worked great. My brother's had to be replaced.......2006-04-26
I purchased a Podfreq for my brother and was really impressed with the quality of the sound it produced and the overall design of it. I was using the Belkin Tunecast II and the Griffin iTrip.
The Belkin Tunecast was worthless and I never got a good signal from it. It also was a pain to have this little device hanging from the headphone jack, and I had to replace batteries often (not powered from the iPod).
The Griffin iTrip had better sound quality and was great for how compact it was, but only worked well in certain vehicles. I ended up selling it to a friend (which worked well in her Tacoma). Didn't work well in my Integra.
So, I decided to get a Podfreq. I've been using mine for over a year now and I haven't had any problems what-so-ever. The stand built into the base is a nice touch and makes it great for setting on a desk or a countertop. This also makes it so the antenna is sticking straight up, giving the best signal. I use it regularly on drives of 5-6 hours (with or without the power adapter). It fits nicely in the cup holder and changing stations is simple to do. since it has a mini usb and firewire connection built in I usually don't even carry the iPod cable. You can use the wall adapter with a regular usb cable to charge your iPod (one less cable to carry around).
Well, my brother's decided to slowly die similar to other people's on here. He called up Sonnets and they had him return it for repair. He got it back and it's working fine now. I am curious about other people having the same problem. Sonnets told him it was because he left it out in the cold, but I've left mine in the cold various times and have had no ill effects (knock on wood).
Some of the things that could use improvement:
No backlight, making it hard to use in low light or at night.
Using the car adapter makes it hard to fit in the cup holder (but if your cup holder has the slot for a mug handle it should fit perfectly).
Overall, a very good transmitter with better sound quality than any of the transmitters that use the headphone jack. Excellent features and design. Acts as a nice protective case.
Stay AWAY From This Product!.......2006-03-09
I have had to send my PodFreq (for Gen3/40Gb iPod) back to the company in California FOUR TIMES for repairs! If you use it more than a couple of hours per week, IT WILL FAIL within 6 months of its purchase. All of a sudden the unit no longer broadcasts, to the point that you have to touch its antenna to the receiver you're trying to send to! Potentially this is the finest product of its kind; in reality it is the WORST. (You'll notice that the unit is no longer available on Amazon. They wised up quickly I think!)
Packed up after 6 days.......2005-10-19
I used my PodFreq for the iPod Photo for 6 days and then it stopped working. Thought it was the line out on my iPod first, but tested with a Monster iCarPlay and that worked fine. Also found out that the product from the Monster iCarPlay was better.
Would be returning my PodFreq
PodFreq Problems are Recurring!.......2005-10-12
I have now had problems with all three Sonnet PodFreq FM transmitters for iPod that I have had. The problem is basically after working OK for a month or so the output power appears to progressively decline, until I literally have to have the aerials touching before there is any reception on the FM radio.
I bought my first PodFreq in August 2004. I had had a Griffin iTrip previously and a Belkin unit which only had a choice of 4 frequencies. I saw the Podfreq on the Net and thought it would be a good alternative. I use the Podfreq to play background music, transmitting it from my iPod to a variety of FM radio/CD players in use at the time. (Sony, Akai, Philips, etc.). I generally leave it connected to the Apple iPod charger via the Firewire port while it is playing.
The PodFreq worked well for a month or two then I noticed a progressive loss of transmitting range, requiring me to place the unit closer and closer to the FM receiver, until it would only transmit a few centimeters. I tried it on several frequencies and with both aerials fully extended. Eventually I returned it to the supplier who sent it off for replacement under warranty. The replacement unit similarly worked well for a couple of months then the same progressive deterioration occurred. I returned this unit in May this year and again it was replaced under warranty.
I have only had my current PodFreq for a few months and again the same loss of transmission range has occurred. Again I have tried it on several FM receivers all with the same result. The 12 month warranty has now expired and I am wondering why this keeps happening? Is there a basic design flaw that Sonnet (and the Public!) need to be made aware of? I can believe that one bad unit is bad luck, and two may be a very bad coincidence, but three????
