Region free.......2007-12-21

For anyone who wishes to turn this into a region free player>power the unit on....open and leave the dvd tray out..and then press the "0" button on the remote 3 time...you will get a message telling you what region it is set for.then just press the "0" button again on remote and then the pause/exit button on remote and your ready to go.I have been enjoying dvds that are single encoded such as 2,4,5 and 1....but also this player plays dvds that have multi codes...some less expensive "region free..code free" players don't actually do this they only play dvds with the one rgion code.well anyways this was a great find got the $50 i spent.

I just needed a simple, easy to use DVD player for our family room. It was simple to set up (a must) and takes up very little space (also a must). I look forward to trying out the other bells and whistles (such as differing DVD formats), which many reviewers say are key.

Always Just Right!.......2007-10-05

You know, I have had JVC DVD players in the past and from time to time I've experimented with $30.00-40.00 mystery brand players and they just don't have the sound quality of a JVC DVD player, or the good color in playback.

This JVC XVN350B is just right for my needs since I have standard resolution CRT TVs and I don't need the 1080p up-sampling of the more expensive models.

This DVD player has very reliable playback even with DVDs that are scratched up a bit. The audio quality is very good so you can use it with your home stereo to play audio CDs. Another quality that keeps bringing me back to JVC is the level of color saturation and color balance in the picture. The JVC players always seem to have an eye-pleasing degree of warm color temperature in the playback image which gives the movie a nice warm theatre quality.

I recommend this model if you want all the benefits of a JVC DVD player but you wish to keep your costs down.
