great inexpensive portable dvd player.......2007-12-24
We bought this product for our children to watch in the car or while traveling on a plane. We have only used it in the car so far with the car charger as a power source. It has worked great. The volume works well. The picture is clear. It plays all our dvd's, including dvd-r, dvd-rw formats. The only problem is the remote. I can't get it to work.
I have not used just the battery, so I can't comment on battery life.
I think for the money, this is a great buy.

After having returned one DVD player, because it just wouldn't work at all, I did some research at my favorite site. Amazon users had good things to say about the Coby TF-DVD7107 7" Portable DVD Player. I had never heard of the Coby brand, so was a bit skeptical. I took a chance, as the price was right.
Usual fast delivery, and everything was as advertised. Easy to operate, and the picture on the 7" inch screen is amazingly clear and bright. The only downside would be the volume, not quite enough oomph. It's Ok, because my wife will be using this on the treadmill and will have headphones on. Everything you need comes with the unit, including those phones. Even a car charger for those boring trips. I may have to park the misses in the back seat if she wants to watch her favorite flick, as it may distract my driving, trying to sneak a peek and all.
I highly recommend this product. I also highly recommend the Amazon site for user ratings, it's the best!
Hit or Miss. I Missed!.......2007-12-19
I was very happy it arrived so fast and was able to use it for the occasion I needed it for. However, I watched about 40 minutes into a movie and it started to freeze up and gave an error message saying WRONG DISC. It made a funny noise and I tried two other disc's with the same problem. I will never buy a COBY again. I really should have listened to all the reviews as some are good and some are bad. Don't waste your time and money. It ruined my night as well. I am returning it for a refund. we will see how that goes.
Broke real fast.......2007-11-28
We used the player for about 20 hours, basically three plane rides, and then it said "wrong disk" no matter what disk we inserted. I've seen other postings that pointed to the same failure. Buy insurance for this player - there is a reason, I guess, it's so cheap.

We had a 3 month warranty on the 2 we bought last Christmas. 1 broke after 4 months and the other after 6 months. Coby offered to service them if we paid $18 each (money order only) and shipped them ourselves- we sent them and never saw them again. we won't be buying Coby brands again.
